Local roundup: Montour boys beat CM

Montoursville hit 14 of 16 free throws and Central Mountain missed the game-tying free throw with 1.3 seconds to play as Mon­toursville won, 60-59, Mon­day night in boys basketball.

Noah Fagnano scored 19 and Owen Kiess scored 15 for Montoursville. CM, with 13 three-pointers and just eight field goals inside, was led by Brody Baker’s 17 points.

Mansfield finished the regular season with a share of the NTL big-school title with a 62-37 win over Wyalusing. Brock Burleigh scored 21 and Konnor Manikowski had 18.

Warrior Run outscored Montgomery 42-8 in the first half en route to a 68-35 Defenders win. Gage Anzulavich led Warrior Run with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four steals, Cody Rogers had 11 points and five steals and Luke Burrows had 11 points. Cameron St. James led Montgomery with 23.

Sullivan County jumped out to a 16-0 first-quarter lead en route to a 55-21 Griffins win over Bucktail. Alex Baumunk and John Saxe scored 16 points each for Sullivan.

Cowanesque Valley was outscored by nine points in the second half as it fell to Northeast Bradford, 59-42. Skyler Vinluan led CV with 10 points.

• In girls basketball, Hughesville clinched a playoff spot for a second straight year with its 34-16 win over Muncy. Jade Cordrey scored a game-high 12 points  while Kendra Smith and Alisha McKinley scored seven points apiece for Hughesville.

Jade Whaley scored a game-high 19 points but it wasn’t enough as Wil­liamsport fell to Danville, 41-34. Williamsport out­scored Danville 20-14 in the second half.

Brittany Boyce scored 15 points and Andrea Sheive added 10 points as Williamson beat Canton, 49-26. Williamson led 25-11 at the half.

• In women’s basketball, Penn College dropped an 80-38 decision to Misericordia in a non-conference game.  Gwendolyn Lavelle led Penn College with 18 points.
