Millionaires win game at Mingo Bay

Williamsport improved to 2-0 in pool play of the Mingo Bay Classic Tuesday in Conway, S.C., with a 15-5, 5-inning win over Logan, W.V. The Millionaires, now 2-0 in pool play, were led by 3 RBIs from both Jalen Jackson and Michael Weber as they scored nine runs in the fifth inning. Each team in this inter-state tournament plays by its own state’s pitcher’s workload and rest rules.

Evan Sellinger went 1 for 1 and had both an RBI and a run but Bald Eagle Area broke open the game in the middle innings and defeated Jersey Shore, 10-2.

St. John Neumann scored 11 runs over a five-inning span and Jaiden Cioffi held off a late Benton rally and earned the save as Neumann defeated Benton, 11-10. Anthony Marrazzo and Cioffi each had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Knights.

• In high school softball, Hughesville rallied from seven runs down and scored six runs in its final three at-bats as it beat Lewis­burg, 10-8. Emily Watts went 3 for 4 with a home run, double and two RBIs while Shayna Ragan went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Taryn Lambert threw three scoreless innings for a win in relief.

Emily Snyder drove in the winning run in the ninth inning of Milton’s 1-0 win over Loyalsock, ending a pitcher’s duel between Kylie Brouse and Juliana Cruz.

Williamsport put up seven runs in the fourth inning as it went on to win 14-3 over Hollidaysburg. Jessica Brooks went 3-4 at the plate with three RBIs and Sam Reeder was 2-4 and drove in 2 runs for Williamsport.

Kat Ebner threw a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as Muncy defeated Benton, 7-0. Sarah Miller led Muncy at the plate and on the bases with two hits and three stolen bases.

Savannah Doney pitched a complete-game four-hitter as North Penn-Liberty defeated Troy, 3-0. Emma Williams had two hits to lead NP-L as the Mounties scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning.

• In boys track and field, Southern Columbia defeated Warrior Run, 96-54, in boys track and field. Hunter Confair earned a win as part of Warrior Run’s 3,200 relay team alongside Addison Magyar, Austin Soltesz and Damien Moser and won in the 800 in 2:04.5. Warrior Run’s Brett Bieber won the javelin with a throw of 131-0 and Isaac Miller won for the Defenders in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet.

Loyalsock topped Hughes­ville 95-55. Quinn Serfass won first in the 1600, 300, and 3200 relay for Loyal­sock. Hughesville swept shot put with Luke Kepner, Josh Dauberman and Kade Heckel with throws of 40-8 1/2, 37-3, and 32-4, respectively.

Isaac Davis took first in the 1600 and 3200 and Kevin Titus took first in the long and high jumps but it wasn’t enough as Jersey Shore fell to Shikellamy, 89-61.

Lewisburg took first in 10 events as the Green Dragons defeated Mifflin­burg, 96-54. Dylan Farro­nato took first in the 200 and javelin throw to lead Lewisburg.

• In girls track and field, Southern Columbia defeated Warrior Run, 84-66. Warrior Run’s Tori Ross won in the 1,600 in 5:51.2, the 800 in 2:30.6 and was part of the Defenders’ 3,200 relay team alongside Hay­dn Wilkins, Emily Ritner and Paige Bowman, which won in 10.31.0.

Loyalsock’s Charlotte Ney­lon won the 100 and 200 as the Lancers beat Hughes­ville, 81-69. Neyon was also part of the winning 400 relay team with Erin Machmer, Hailey Zurich and Maddie Fox with a time of 53.62. Hughesville won the 3200 and 1600 relay with times of 11:02.64 and 4:30.03.

Sidney Trunzo took first in the 1600 and 3200 and Jersey Shore took the top two spots in the shot put and discus but it wasn’t enough in Jersey Shore’s 97.5-52.5 loss to Shikellamy.

Mifflinburg and Lewis­burg tied at 75 but Miff­linburg had more first-place finishes for the tiebreaker. Kate Allred led Lewisburg with two first-place finishes in the shot put and discus.

• In college softball, Laura Lawson was 1-2 with a two-run home run, while Arianna Young got her 10th win in Mansfield’s 7-1 victory in game one. Game two ended as Laura Lawson beat out the tag at the plate for a 6-5 come from behind win. Mansfield rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Lawson went 3-4 added 2 runs and an RBI, and Melanie Taylor was 3-4 with three RBIs.

Penn College put up eight runs in the first en route to a 14-3 win over Wells College in game one. Taylor Krow went 4-4 at the plate with a double, four RBIs and three runs, Taylor Brooks had a two RBI triple. In game two Penn College came away with a 3-1 win. Brooks got the win on the mound while Elizabeth Asher went 2-3 with two RBIs at the plate.

Lycoming split the doubleheader with King’s. Game one was King’s 11-7 over Lycoming, Maddison Brown was 3-5 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Lycoming came out on top of game two 6-3 behind Liz Nance who pitched an eight-hit complete game on the mound. Brown 3-4 with a run and three RBIs in the seocond game, and Ashley Shoenstadt went 1-3 with a 2 RBI triple.

Lock Haven won the opener of a non-conference doubleheader with Shep­herd, 3-1, before the Rams took Game 2, 3-1. In Game 1, Bekah Slattery threw a four-hitter while striking out seven. Lock Haven scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on RBI singles by Michelle Holweger and Becca Ca­puto. Jessica Strouse’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning gave LHU some breathing room. In Game 2, Lock Haven amassed just five hitswhile Shepherd scored two runs in the final two innings.
