Local roundup: PSU-Ga. St. a 7:30 kickoff
Penn State will meet Georgia State for the first time in program history in a primetime contest on Big Ten Network on Sept. 16, the school said Tuesday as the first three weeks of BTN games were announced. The game will kick at 7:30 and also be Penn State’s first against a Sun Belt opponent.
Previously announced, Penn State Football’s season opener against Akron September 2 will kick at noon and air on ABC. Penn State’s home game against Pitt will kick on Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m. on ABC, while the Homecoming game against Rutgers will kick at noon on Nov. 11. Penn State also learned kick times for a pair of road games with a noon kick at Northwestern on Oct. 7 and a 3:30 p.m. kick on Fox at Ohio State on Oct. 28.
• In women’s lacrosse, Randall Swope, who coached the Bucknell for eight seasons and went 51-82 over two separate stints, announced Tuesday that she would be stepping down.
Swope’s initial two-year turn as Bucknell’s head coach came in 2003 and 2004, when she led the Bison to .500 or better records and berths in the Patriot League Tournament in both years. In 2003, the team reached the Patriot League Tournament championship game for the first time in school history.
