Austin Renz and C.J. Tyler repeated their title at the 88th Williamsport Invitational Sunday, beating past champion Ben Cook and Al Kline, 2-1.

With late day thunderstorms threatening and instructed to play fast, Tyler and Renz jumped out to a 3 up lead through 10 holes. The veteran team of Kline and Cook didn’t let that faze them and fought back to 1 down through 14.

The back four holes are where many Invitational matches have been won and lost. Two par 3s and two par 5s allow teams to make birdies and seal the victory. Tyler and Renz made sure not to let their chance at repeating slip away, although pars were all they needed. Three straight gave them a victory to become the event’s first repeat champs since 2010.

Kline and Cook had beaten the 2015 champion J.R. Cattoni and Trent Miller, in the morning semis. Cattoni struggled with an injured shoulder from Saturday and Miller pressed for birdies but came up short to Kline and Cook, 3&2. Tyler and Renz defeated Elon College teammates Robbie Seebold and Jared Mactas, 2&1.
