Batavia takes both games of doubleheader
After dropping the first game of a doubleheader to the Batavia Muckdogs, 6-5, in eight innings, Williamsport proceeded to lose the second contest, 4-3..
The Crosscutters are now 26-29 and continue falling out of the wild card race, currently 6 1/2 games back.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Williamsport out-hit Batavia, 9-8, but a run in the eighth inning proved to be the difference and break up a 5-5 tied game.
Williamsport scored three in the seventh to tie the game.
The Crosscutters were led by Rodolfo Duran, Cole Stobbe and Scheiner, all who had two hits. Duran hit his seventh double of the year as well.
Luis Ramirez got the loss on the mound.
In the second game, Bloomsburg graduate Colton Hock earned the win, throwing four innings, scattering three hits and only allowing one earned run.
The Crosscutters had just one player with multiple hits as Jake Scheiner was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
