Crosscutters one-hit in fourth straight loss
Williamsport suffered its second shutout loss of the season and fourth straight loss, recording just one hit in a 1-0 defeat at Staten Island on Thursday afternoon.
Malvin Matos recorded the Crosscutters’ only hit with a ringing double off the wall in left. Matos finished the night 1 for 3 with his ninth double of the season. Matos is on a seven-game hit streak.
Spencer Howard set a season-high with seven strikeouts over four scoreless innings. Howard did not allow a hit, but did allow two walks.
David Parkinson (0-1) added three innings, allowing one run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Adam Haseley saw his nine-game hit streak end, going 0-3 with a strikeout. Haseley entered the game in the bottom of the second inning to replace an injured Jhailyn Ortiz.
Williamsport finished the series 2-26 with runners in scoring position, leaving 23 runners on base over the three games
