Cutters hold lead for win

The Williamsport Crosscutters scored a run in the top of the first inning and never let Batavia hold a lead en route to a 2-1 win over the Muckdogs in Batavia on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Crosscutters improve to 23-18 and Batavia falls to 15-27.

Connor Seabold threw two innings and got the win for WIlliamsport to improve to 2-0 after limiting Batavia to just two hits. Damon Jones earned his third save on the mound with three innings of relief work.

Williamsport had just five hits in the win, and didn’t have a single extra-base hit while going 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position.

Nick Maton, Cole Stobbe, Nerluis Martinez and Malvin Matos all recorded singles for Williamsport.

The Crosscutters end a three-game series at Batavia tonight before returning to Williamsport to host Auburn on Saturday for three games.
