Rainout creates home doubleheader for Cutters

MARK NANCE/Sun-Gazette Members of the Crosscutters and Tri-CIty pass the time during a rain delay at Bowman Field Friday. The game was eventually postponed until today when they will play a doubleheader.

After a 40-plus minute rain delay Friday night, the Williamsport Crosscutters’ opener of a three-game series with Tri-City was postponed.

The Cutters and ValleyCats will play a doubleheader today with two seven-inning games beginning at 5:05 p.m. at Bowman Field.

Williamsport is looking to snap a four-game losing streak dating back to Sunday. The Cutters haven’t won a game since beating Auburn, 3-1, a week ago. Williamsport is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Staten Island which pushed them to four games behind Mahoning Valley in the Pinckney Division race.

In two previous doubleheaders, Williamsport is 0-3. It was swept by State College on July 18 which came after losing the front end of a doubleheader with Connecticut earlier in the week before the second game was rained out.
