Yankees top Cutters in bottom of 11th
Staten Island loaded the bases and didn’t even need to record a hit to get the win and defeat the Williamsport Crosscutters at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island on Wednesday evening, 3-2, in 11 innings.
Two walks and a hit batter helped load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 11th inning. Manny Argomaniz grounded into a force out, but it drove in Kendall Coleman for the winning run.
Williamsport (24-21) led 2-0 thanks to consecutive runs in the second and third innings before Staten Island (29-19) tied it up with a two-run fourth inning.
The Crosscutters collected eight hits and got doubles from Adam Haseley and Malvin Matos. Greg Pickett also hit a home run for Williamsport.
Ryan Krill had a double for Staten Island while Keith Skinner led the team with a 3 for 4 performance.
Staten Island’s Eduardo Rivera threw three innings of relief and earned the win to improve to 2-2. As a team, the Yankees recorded 16 strikeouts.
Kyle Dohy (1-1) received the loss for Williamsport after throwing just 2/3 innings in relief. Andrew Brown threw six innings for Williamsport and only allowed two runs.
