‘Callie Strong’ night at Wellsboro

Wellsboro’s boys soccer team is hosting a “Callie Strong” Soccer Night Tuesday night vs. North-Penn Liberty.

Callie Cavanaugh, an 8-year old girl who’s battled pediatric cancer since 2015, is selling T-shirts that raise money for gas cards for families with children battling the same disease at Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.

Next, she will be donating to the Make-A-Wish PA program with the proceeds. This is her way for helping others who are battling cancer with her.

Cavanaugh is expected to be at the game with her father, Kevin, a teacher at the Wellsboro Middle School for 17 years. Many of the Wellsboro boys players played with Cavanaugh’s brothers when they lived in Wellsboro before moving to Loyalsock.

The Wellsboro players will wear the “Callie Strong” shirts before their games, with the varsity playing at 6 and JV to follow.

The shirts are also available for $10 at Mountain Valley Realty in Wellsboro.
