Local roundup: Loyalsock tennis remains perfect

In girls tennis, Loyalsock remained undefeated thanks to 3-0 shortened win against Muncy in girls tennis on Thursday afternoon.

The doubles matches were not finished due to weather.

Loyalsock’s Jenna Beiter won at No. 3 singles over Muncy’s Fiath Mihalick, 6-0, 6-0.

Katie Savidge won at No. 1 singles for the Lancers, 6-1, 6-2, against Isabella Rymsza.

Muncy’s Alena Porter lost to Madison Savidge at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0.

Montoursville shut out Milton, 5-0. Maddy Reves defeated Hanna Seabold 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles. Karina Dangle beat Olivia Eisenhauer in a super tiebreak, 7-5, 6-6, 7-5(10-8) in No. 3 singles.

A 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles by Katie Meale helped Williamsport defeat Lewisburg, 3-1, to improve to 5-1.

Mia Shuler won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3, for Williamsport and Kalindi Maggs picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

The No. 2 doubles match was suspended. Lewisburg won at No. 1 doubles with the tema of Maria Cooper and Erin Hilkert.

Bucktail defeated North Penn-Liberty, 4-3, thanks to winning four of the five singles matches.

Hannah DiMarco won for Bucktail at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1 over Liberty’s Sarah Rathmell.

• Macy McCarthy had three goals and an assist to help Sullivan County defeat Montgomery in a Mid-Penn girls soccer matchup.

Sophia Springman scored twice for Sullivan County (2-0) as well. Montgomery’s lone goal came from Kara Hahn.

Morgan Tupper had the assist for Montgomery.

Muncy’s Sasha McMonigle scored the Indians’ only goal in a 6-1 loss to Central Columbia. Bailey Bowen added an assist for Muncy.

The Blue Jays led 2-0 after the first half.

Jersey Shore lost to Shikellamy, 4-0, as the Braves scored twice in both halves.

• Austin Lewis recorded a hat trick and Blake Sherwood had two assists as Hughesville beat Mount Carmel in a rout, 8-0, in boys soccer.

The Spartans (2-0) didn’t allow Mount Carmel to record a single shot in the win. Hughesville led 5-0 at halftime.

Jersey Shore defeated Selinsgrove, 3-2, as the Bulldogs battled back from a two-goal deficit. Niall Lanks scored twice and Jacob Haag added a goal.

Owen Yoder had two goals, Alex Yoder had a goal and assist and Milton defeated Bloomsburg, 4-1. Tyler Leeser had two assists for Milton while Ian Lilley also scored.

Despite a late effort by Southern Columbia in the second half, Montoursville held on for a 6-5 win thanks to a three-goal performance from Dominic Caputo and two goals from Angelo Silvagni.

Colin Gorini also scored for the Warriors.

Jordan Morrison, Alex Hazzoun, and Andrew Schultz scored in the first half as Warrior Run beat South Williamsport, 3-0.

Williamson defeated North Penn-Liberty, 8-5, as Simon Fish and Andrew Learn each had four goals.

Andrew Gililand had hat trick for Liberty.

Tanner Runyan had two goals and an assist to help Wellsboro defeat Galeton, 6-1, in a Northern Tier matchup.

Kaeden Mann scored twice for the Green Hornets (2-0-1).

• Penn College fired 20 shots against Keystone College, but none found the back of the net in either overtime periods as the Wildcats ended with a 2-2 draw to Keystone in women’s soccer.

Tiffany Brown and Christina Weber both scored for the Wildcats (0-1-1). Francesca Timpone and Jane Herman added assists.

Anna Bialczak cleaned up a loose ball in the box in the 73rd minute, lifting visiting Tennessee to a 1-0 victory over Bucknell. The Volunteers, who are receiving votes in this week’s national poll, improved to 7-0 on the season, while the Bison fell to 1-5 against a difficult non-conference schedule.
