Local roundup: Williamsport boys beat Jersey Shore in soccer

Williamsport dominated in 4-0 win over Jersey Shore on Tuesday in boys soccer, allowing just one shot on goal. Tiarnan Ferry and Tom Pombor both scored two goals in win.

Hughesville got the 3-2 win against Southern Columbia. Austin Lewis scored the first goal for Hughesville in the 36 minute.

Brett Rudy scored a hat trick in Wellsboro’s 7-0 win over NEB. Noah Fitch added two goals and Nolan Lohr had three assists.

Loyalsock earned its first win, 3-1 over Blooms­burg, as Charlie Hunt scored with a goal and assist.

Benton scored once in each half of a 2-0 win over Muncy.

Warrior Run scored 10 goals in the first half alone en route to a 13-0 rout of Mount Carmel. Hayden Durussell and Tyrese Hazzoum scored twice for the Defenders (3-2).

Milton fell to Midd-West, 5-0. The Mustangs had five players all record a goal and led 3-0 at halftime.

Montoursville lost to Central Columbia on the road, 5-1. The Warriors’ lone goal came from Nick Musto on a Dominic Caputo assist.

• In girls soccer, Central Mountain’s Sloane Tress­ler had a hat trick in a 3-0 win over Jersey Shore, giving the Wildcats their first win of the year.

• In girls tennis, Rachel Thomas beat Lily Sum­merson in No. 1 singles as Hughesville beat South Williamsport, 4-1.

Jersey Shore won each match in straight sets of a 5-0 win over Mifflinburg.

• In high school golf, Midd-West’s Ethan Spotts was the medalist with an 85 in a HAC-II match at Bucknell.

• In boys cross country, Tyler Holcomb of Wil­liamsport won at Shike­llamy and Lewisburg won all team events over WHS, Shik, and Mount Carmel.

Isaac Davis won by 94 seconds in Jersey Shore’s meet with Midd-West and Warrior Run at Danville.

At Shamokin, Loyalsock swept the team title as Quinn Serfass finished in 16:34 to take second place, 7 seconds behind Milton’s Tyler Leeser.

In girls cross country, Williamsport’s Mary McMahon won at Shikellamy but Lewisburg placed 7 in the top 10 to sweep WHS, Shik, and Mount Carmel.

Warrior Run’s Lauren Tripani won the race at Danville against Jersey Shore and Central Colum­bia.

At Shamokin, Isabel Sagar led Loyalsock to a clean sweep against Cen­tral Mountain, Southern Columbia, Shamokin and Milton in 19:14. Central Mountain’s Christie Lugg took third in 22:06.

• In college field hockey, Elizabeth Clemmer scored the winner at the buzzer in a 3-2 win over Mansfield. Amber Prince and Emily Sadowski scored for MU.

• In women’s tennis, Ly­coming fell 9-0 to Scranton, dropping each match in straight sets.
