Golf tip of the week: Lay it out and then play it out for best results

SUBMITTED PHOTO Stick to your plan, don't deviate.

Be more competitive by playing smart golf. Lay out a plan before playing and stick to it.

For example, download a scorecard and layout of the course you are going to play. Make notes where you want to hit your drive on each hole. Then plan your next shot, while making notes on where not to hit it.

In some cases perhaps you should hit a fairway wood or long iron off the tee, especially on narrow fairways. Know where the out of bounds and hazard areas are and play away from them.

Smart play can improve your game and give you an advantage over your competition. Stay focussed by playing close attention to your notes.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
