Golf tip of the week: Utilize shoulder power for deep rough

The left shoulder can aid in removing a ball from the heavy rough from 80 yards or less.

Imagine there is a pivot point in the center of your chest and the left shoulder moves around it.

Coil the left shoulder back while cocking the wrists at waist high. Then start the down-swing by thrusting the left shoulder toward the sky. This will lift the ball from the turf. The secret is to allow the left shoulder, arm and hands to move as one unit.

The left shoulder is the power source and controls how high you want to hit the ball. It is very crucial to keep your head up and stare at the ball.

The right shoulder for the left-hand golfer.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
