Local roundup: Bhangdia has hat trick in Lewisburg win

Tommy Bhangdia recorded a hat trick and Ben Liscum had two goals and an assist to help Lewisbrug defeat East Juniata, 7-0, in boys soccer on Saturday. Nate Liscum had three assists for Lewisburg.

The Green Dragons scored six goals in the second half after leading 1-0 at halftime.

Colton Ammerman scored twice and Trace Neary had two assists as Sullivan County beat North Penn-Liberty, 3-2.

Connor Alpaugh scored a goal in each half to lift Loyalsock to a 2-0 win over Hughesville. The Lancers held the Spartans to just two shots.

• In girls soccer, Wellsboro scored two late goals in a six-minute span to defeat Northeast Bradford, 5-3.

Wellsboro’s Kerrah Clymer and Emma Poirier both scored twice.

Macy McCarthy had three goals and an assist, Sophia Springman scored a goal and dished out two assists and Sullivan County defeated CMVT, 6-0.

Madison Burke and Kerigan Wettlaufer both scored for Sullivan County as well.

East Juniata and Warrior Run battled to a scoreless draw after two overtime periods. The Defenders were held to five shots.

Megan Zimmerman recorded 13 saves.

• Mansfield was first to get on the board with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Adam Hutchison to Jeff Bagwell, but Chestnut Hill would come away with a 30-18 win in the Josh Palmer Pigskin Classic.

On the second play of Mansfield’s first possession, Hutchison aired it out to Bagwell for a long touchdown pass to give the Mounties an early lead. It marked the second pass of 50+ yards for the Mountaineers this season. The extra point attempt was blocked.

Mansfield had a pair of quarterbacks throw for over 120 yards as Adam Hutchison threw for 140 and Nick Cherasaro threw for 123.

• In women’s soccer, Lock Haven lost a double-overtime thriller to Seton Hill, 2-1, in a PSAC game.

Haleigh Swam scored on a two-on-one breakaway after she took a cross from Leisha Noble for Lock Haven. Central Mountain grad Bree Hilty had seven saves for Lock Haven.

Kendall Ham scored two goals and Brianna Kropinack notched a goal and an assist — all in the first 22 minutes of the match — to lead Bucknell to a 3-0 victory over Army West Point.

Penn College beat Wilson College, 4-0, as four Wildcats scored in the win. Hailee Hartman, Tiffany Brown, Chrissy Webber and Emily Bell all scored.

Lycoming freshman goalkeeper Madi Welliver, a Warrior Run grad, made a career-high 17 saves but regionally-ranked Arcadia University scored three second-half goals as Lycoming lost, 3-0.

• Thanks to goals in each half and a lockdown defense that allowed just two shots in the final 30 minutes, the 16th-ranked Lycoming College men’s soccer team defeated Arcadia, 2-0.

It’s the Warriors fourth straight win as they improve to 12-1 overall with a 3-0 MAC Commonwealth record.

Holy Cross’ Arno Rupp scored two second half goals to counter another sensational strike from Bucknell’s Bernie Wright, and the Crusaders won, 2-1.

Bucknell saw its two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 4-5-2 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League.

Penn College’s Ian Scheller scored off a header with 20:12 to play until halftime to give the Wildcats a 1-0 win over Wilson College in an NEAC contest.

Lock Haven fell to Seton Hill, 3-2, despite a second-half rally by the Bald Eagles. Lucas Zannoni and Zach Hommey both scored for Lock Haven.

• No. 5 West Chester scored a goal in the first half and two more in the second half to earn a 3-0 win over Mansfield in college field hockey in a PSAC contest.

• Lycoming sophomore Devinity Apollon picked up a three-set win at No. 1 singles and junior Kimberleigh Parroccini netted the game-winning point in her No. 5 singles match as the Lycoming College women’s tennis team defeated Misericordia, 5-4.

• Lycoming senior Rob Smith picked up a 6-2, 6-0 No. 2 singles win and teamed up with sophomore Mitch Wheary, a Central Mountain grad, at No. 1 doubles, picking up an 8-1 win, as he helped the Lycoming College men’s tennis team to an 8-1 non-conference win over Misericordia.

• Lycoming freshman Daniel Moses ran a career-best 29:38.6 at the DeSales University Invitational, leading the Lycoming College cross country teams as he placed 124th out of 268 runners. The Warriors finished 23rd out of 28 schools.

Penn College finished 15th overall at the DeSales Invitational thanks to a 39th-place finish by Josh Velez in 27:36.

• In women’s cross country, Jersey Shore grad Sidney Trunzo took 17th in the women’s 5K race at the DeSales Invitational in a time of 24:19 as the Wildcats finished 19th overall.

• Lycoming junior Emily Hepner used 42 digs in a pair of matches to become the fourth player in school history to reach 1,400 digs in a season and earn All-Tournament Team honors, but Lycoming’s volleyball team fell in a pair of close matches to Penn State Behrend, 3-1, and Misericordia, 3-1, to wrap up the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament.

Penn College lost to Medaille, 3-0, and Wels, 3-0, in a pair of matches at the Wells College tri-meet.

• The No. 17 Bucknell men’s water polo team edged George Washington, 11-9, to remain undefeated in MAWPC play and run its home winning streak to 13 games.

• Lock Haven’s swimming team opened the year at the Millersville Relays. Leading the way for Lock Haven was the trio of Kristen Allen, Carly Ray and Theresa Dempsey as they placed fourth overall in the women’s 300 yard Backstroke Relay, posting a time of 3:20.40.
