Lady Lions off to 5-0 start

Penn State’s women’s basketball team forced 20 Central Connecticut State turnovers on the way to an 83-66 victory Monday night at home.

Penn State (5-0) seemed to be in control of the game early in the third quarter, but Central Connecticut State (0-4) used a 17-6 burst over the first 6:30 of the third quarter to trim a 15-point halftime lead down to 52-48 with 3:33 to play in the quarter. However, a 15-2 run put it out of reach.

It’s coach Coquese Washington’s third career 5-0 start and first in five seasons.

Freshman Alisia Smith earned her first career double-digit scoring effort with 14 points, shooting 6-for-7 from the floor.
