Local roundup: Kauffman’s 18 points lift Bulldogs

Hannah Kauffman had a team-high 18 points to help Jersey Shore defeat Midd-West, 58-46.

The Bulldogs only led by two points at halftime but started to pull away in the second half. Kelli Beiler had 24 points for the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs also had a 16-point performance out of Averie Hess.

m Stopper added 12, but Loyalsock fell to Southern Columbia at home, 52-46, in girls basketball.

The Lancers fell behind at halftime, 29-20, and couldn’t quite rally back.

A 20-point night from JoAnne McNamara helped North Penn-Mansfield defeat Wyalusing, 55-39. McNamara was just shy of a double-double as she had seven rebounds. Jamie Palmer had 12 points and seven boards.

Alyssa Remley led North Penn-Liberty with 13 points and Taylor Thompson added 10, but Towanda used a strong fourth quarter to beat North Penn-Liberty, 46-37.

Tory Self scored 19 points, Emma Poirier added 14 and Wellsboro defeated Cowanesque Valley, 54-39.

The Green Hornets held CV to single digits in the first and second quarters while taking a 30-13 lead into halftime.

Bethany Boyce scored seven points and Emylee Yusko added six, but a four-point second quarter hurt Williamson in a 37-26 loss to Sayre.

Williamson scored 15 points in the first quarter and combined for just 11 points in the final three.

South Williamsport’s Megan Weber had 10 points, but the Mounties lost to a solid Mount Carmel team, 71-20, as Nicole Varano had 30 points for the Red Tornadoes.

• Pete Sinibaldi and Cole Brewer both scored 10 points each as South Williamsport defeated Benton in a rout, 74-25.

Dean Seman had a team-high 10 rebounds and dished out six assists.

John Saxe narrowly missed out on a double-double, scoring eight points and having eight assists in Sullivan County’s 61-44 win over Blue Ridge. Jesse Williams led Sullivan with 11 points.

• The District 4 Competitive Spirit Championships are scheduled for January 6 at Shamokin High School at noon, it was announced on Wednesday.

• Twenty-eight turnovers came back to hurt the Bucknell women’s basketball team in a non-conference game as Pitt won, 57-39.

Bucknell junior Kaitlyn Slagus paced the Bison with 13 points and eight rebounds.
