Local roundup: Lewisburg’s Liscum has career-high 35

Nate Liscum scored a career-high 35 points as Lewisburg defeated Southern Columbia, 72-64. Aaron Hoover added 13 points for the Green Dragon, in boys basketball on Thursday.

Michael Smithers scored 12 and Jacob Aumick added 11 for Canton, but the Warriors fell to Wyalusing, 67-38.

Wellsboro stayed hot with an 87-27 win over Williamson. Dalton Prough led the Hornets with 22 points, five assists, four rebounds and five steals. Quinn Henry had 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and six steals.

Mansfield overcame an eight-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Athens 58-53. Dylan Meyer led Mansfield with 14 points and Garrett David had 10.

Liberty fell to NEB 44-32. Brandyn Choplosky led with 10 points, Logan Horsley had nine.

• St. John Neumann’s Gabby Lisi came up just shy of a triple-double by scoring nine points, grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing out 10 assists and swiping away five steals as the Golden Knights defeated Meadowbrook Christian, 55-36, in girls basketball.

Shayna McNamee had a near double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Jayden Leighow, Kendra Smith led Hughesville to a 40-26 win over Bloomsburg. Smith led Spartans scoring with 14 points and Leighow had 11.

Leah Beinlich scored 12 points and Jessica King added 11 as Sullivan County defeated Benton, 46-37. Jessica King almost had a triple double, adding a team-high 18 rebounds and eight blocks.

• Cameron Wood opened the dual with a 42-second fall over Roman Aksenov at 220 pounds and Montoursville beat Lewisburg, 40-33, in high school wrestling.

Jaxon Dalena scored a 12-5 win at 170 pounds for the Warriors, and Gavin Hoffman had a technical fall in 1:49.

Muncy racked up six pins and a forfeit in first seven matches in 75-5 win over Montgomery. The Red Raiders’ Elijah Alexander won by tech fall over Collin Werts at 106 pounds. Bryce Vollman defeated Brandon Daldo 4-1 at 126 pounds.

Warrior Run won big over South Williamsport 79-(-1). Damien Moser pinned Gerald Tawney at 160 pounds, Jeff Burkhart pinned his opponent in 1:10 at 285 pounds.

Milton defeated Mifflinburg 50-26. Noah Stamm scored a 15-0 tech fall in 3:18 at 152 pounds. Tyler Stotzfus pinned Colton Aikey at 170 pounds for Mifflinburg.

• Emma Butzler dominated for Jersey Shore’s girls swimming team in the 500 free, winning in a time of 5:18.68, beating the second-place finisher by roughly 70 seconds, as Jersey Shore earned wins over Central Mountain (105-65) and Penns Valley (119-43) in a tri-meet at Central Mountain.

Central Mountain beat Penns Valley, 108-52.

Butzler and Jordan O’Connor, Meagan Keegan and Veronica Sander won the 200 medley relay and Butzler, O’Connor, Sander and Kendra White won the 400 free relay.

• In boys swimming, Central Mountain defeated Jersey Shore, 72-70. James Riccardo won the 100 back and 100 fly for Central Mountain and was part of the 200 medley relay team which won.
