Local roundup: Wellsboro beats Neumann for 1st time since ‘83

Brandyn Tuttle had a team-high 15 points, Quinn Henry added 13 and Wellsboro defeated St. John Neumann for the first time since 1983 in an exciting game, 50-41, at St. John Neumann in boys basketball on Wednesday evening.

Tuttle ended with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds. Henry had eight boards and four assist.

Dalton Prough added a team-high five assists.

The Golden Knights’ were led by Jaiden Lynch’s 15 points and Reid Parrish’s 11.

Mitchell Klingerman and Gerald Ross combined for 24 points, but Loyalsock narrowly lost to Germantown Academy, 56-52, in the State College Tournament.

The Lancers (6-1) face either State College or Owen J. Roberts today at 1 p.m.

Ross led the Lancers with 13 points, Klingerman had 11 and Connor Watkins added 11. Germantown Academy was led by Jordan Longino’s 30 points.

• Megan Zimmerman scored 17 points, the only Warrior Run player in double figures, to lift the Defenders to a 50-38 win over Juniata in the Warrior Run Holiday Tournament.

Warrior Run led by four after the first quarter and took a 26-26 tie into halftime.

Taylor Coup added eight for the Defenders.

Jayden Leighow helped Hughesville defeat Midd-West, 54-40, thanks to a double-double performance of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kendra Smith added 11 for the Spartans.

Kelli Beiler led the Mustangs with 18 and Rachael Teats had 13.
