ROUNDUP: Mansfield men complete weekend crossover sweep

Jeremiah Worthem scored a game-high 21 points as Mansfield men’s basketball completed the weekend sweep of PSAC crossovers with a 64-55 win over Mercyhurst on Sunday.

Mansfield (3-3, 3-1 PSAC) got off to a 10-4 advantage over the first five minutes of the game before jumping out to the biggest lead of the game at 24-12 later in the half. Worthem went 7 for 14 from the floor and a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line to record a season-high 21 points. Tamanosky chipped in 12 points with Tyler Moffe adding 11 points.

• Morrisville handed Penn College a 78-57 defeat in an NEAC men’s basketball game.

Diyel Stewart led Penn College with 11 points. Jesse White pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and Ryan Lockman finished with eight points, six rebounds and three assists.

• Penn College dropped an 87-69 decision to Morrisville in an NEAC women’s basketball game.

Jane Herman scored a season-high 18 points for Penn College on 6 of 15 shooting. She added a team-high five assists and grabbed three rebounds. Ericka Lepley netted a career-high 17 points on 5 of 11 shooting, and Tori Wolfe finished with 11 points. Cassi Kuhns picked up her second career double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Seniors Brielle Kelly and Melanie Taylor scored 17 and 13 points, respectively, but it was not enough as Mansfield dropped a 65-51 final to Mercyhurst. Taylor connected on two 3-pointers and shot 4 for 5 from the line. Kelly notched her eighth consecutive game in double figures and grabbed three rebounds.

Penn State opened the game on an 8-0 run and never looked back, taking a decisive 78-46 victory over Manhattan.

Penn State scored its most points in any opening frame this season at 26 and held Manhattan to just 22 points in the second half to post the 32-point victory.

• The Lycoming swim teams won all but four of the 28 events, including 10 straight in which it took first or second, as each the men and women defeated Wilkes. The men won, 173-84, while the women prevailed, 164-74.

On the men’s side, freshman Brandon Vought led the team with three individual wins and a relay win. He took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.25), 500-yard freestyle (5:15.56) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.19).

On the women’s side, junior Emilie Kramer took first in three individual events as she swam a 1:10.75 in the 100-yard breaststroke, a 57.06 in the 100-yard freestyle and a 1:05.63 in the 100-yard butterfly. Freshman McKenna Zeller took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a swim of 1:02.70 and swam a 2:19.34 in the 200-yard backstroke to win two events.
