Local roundup: Rymsza’s 7 treys lift Muncy boys to win

Noah Rymsza hit seven 3-pointers to end with 28 points, Muncy hit 13 from 3-point range and the Indians defeated Midd-West, 66-49, in boys basketball on Monday.

Jordan Yaple had career highs with nine points and seven rebounds and Matt Coyner grabbed 10 boards.

Cole Lentz had 11 points, Tristin Weaver added 10 and South Williamsport defeated Montgomery, 76-31. Kalen Guyer led the Red Raiders with 10.

St. John Neumann freshman David Hill scored a career-high 22 points and the Golden Knights came away with a big win against Sullivan County, 55-51. Jaiden Cioffi and Jaiden Lynch scored eight points each for Neumann. Dylan Hottenstein led Sullivan County with 16 points while John Saxe had eight points, 10 assists and six rebounds.

Montoursville outscored Bloomsburg, 27-2, in the first half en route to a 57-37 win. Owen Kiess scored a team-high 12 points as 11 of 12 players that played scored.

Matt Myers scored 21 points and Taylor Mason had eight points and 17 rebounds as Hughesville held off a late Lewisburg rally in its 45-43 win. Coleman Witherite led Lewisburg with 15 and Nick Shedleski added 13.

Seth Huyler (16) and Christian Kemp (15) combined for 31 points but Cowanesque Valley fell to Athens, 62-58.

Aiden Gair scored a career-high 17 points and two other Lancers were in double-figures as Loyalsock defeated Shamokin, 58-52. Connor Watkins added 12 and Anthony Pastore scored 11 for Loyalsock.

• Tamara Hess scored a team-high 32 points to help Canton defeat Montgomery, 60-30. Riley Fry led Montgomery with 13 and Jessica Umpstead added 10.

Cowanesque Valley outscored Oswayo Valley 31-13 in the first half en route to a 54-32 win. Makayla Vargeson scored a team-high 15 points and Delaney Doan added 10 for CV.

Mykenzie Malacusky scored a game-high 18 points with nine steals, Stef Kramer added 14 points and nine rebounds and Leah Beinlich totaled 14 points, three assists and three steals as Sullivan County defeated Troy, 63-17. Sullivan outscored Troy in the first half, 33-9.

Megan Zimmerman scored a game-high 16 and Warrior Run jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead as it defeated Williamsport, 40-20.

Taylor Thompson and Eva Rice each scored eight but North Penn-Liberty fell to Sayre, 68-30.

• After becoming the first Lycoming College wrestler to repeat as Middle Atlantic Conference champion since 2006, sophomore 157-pounder Hadyn Swartwood, a Jersey Shore grad, has earned his first MAC Wrestler of the Week award.

• With a career-high 27 points and a double-double during a game in which he scored his 1,000th career point, Lycoming College men’s basketball senior Alex Newbold was honored with his second career MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week award.

• After leading Mansfield to back-to-back conference wins this past week, Brielle Kelly has been named PSAC East Athlete of the Week. It marks the third time in her career that Kelly has earned this recognition.

Kelly helped Mansfield earn its first win over Bloomsburg in 32 years.
