Local college roundup: Foulland helps Bucknell beat Holy Cross in OT

Nana Foulland recorded 21 points and nine rebounds, and Bucknell held Holy Cross without a field goal in overtime to win 68-67 in men’s basketball on Saturday afternoon.

Stephen Brown and Zach Thomas added 15 points each for the Bison, who reached the 20-win mark for the 14th time in school history.

Amir Hinton had a monster double-double, which was powered by a team-high 24 points in addition to 14 rebounds and he was one four players in double figures scoring, but it wasn’t enough as Lock Haven lost to Millersville, 73-69.

Robert Young Jr. scored a team-high 22 points, but Penn College lost its regular-season finale to SUNY Poly, 67-61, at home. Spencer Bartron added 11 points for Penn College.

Lycoming sophomore Ronald Jefferson scored 18 points and senior Chris Wallace notched his fifth double-double of the season, but 20th-ranked Lycoming dropped an overtime MAC Commonwealth game to Albright, 87-80.

The Warriors will enter the MAC playoffs as the No. 3 seed, heading to No. 2 Lebanon Valley on Wednesday.

Malik Carter and Tyler Moffe led Mansfield offensively in a 65-57 loss to Shippensburg. Carter scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds with Moffe adding 13 points for the Mounties.

• Despite a tremendous double-double effort from senior Shelby Mueller, Lycoming lost on the road at Albright, 62-57, in women’s basketball. Mueller posted a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double for her 12th of the season. In addition to Mueller, Lycoming received a 10-point performance from Erica Lutz.

Lock Haven lost at Millersville, 81-57, in a PSAC East contest. Bink Redman posted her fourth consecutive double-double with 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in addition to four assists and four steals.

Alyssa Mullins, Mary Kate Rumbaugh and Melanie Taylor combined for 52 points, but it wasn’t enough as Mansfield lost to Shippensburg, 72-63. Mullins had a game-high 23 points and Rumbaugh chipped in 19.

Bucknell defeated Holy Cross, 72-63, thanks in large part to a double-double by Kaitlyn Slagus. The Bucknell forward had 18 points and 10 boards, both team highs. Kyi English and Ellie Mack both added 10 points.

Penn College fell to SUNY Poly, 81-47. Penn College was led by Loyalsock grad Cassi Kuhns’ 16 points and Tori Wolfe and Gwendolyn Lavelle, who both added 10.

• Lock Haven’s Kyle Shoop (141 pounds) and Alex Klucker (157) claimed individual titles to the lead the way for the Bald Eagles as the No. 23 Lock Haven wrestling team closed the regular season by hosting the Mat-Town Open II Tournament.

• Callan Jordan became the Lycoming swimming team’s first MAC champion in four years, doing so in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 51.38.

Wellsboro grad Emilie Kramer placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.18.

• The Bucknell women’s water polo team overcame a four-goal deficit to pull within one, but No. 25 Marist held on to score a 7-6 victory. Kali Hyman led Bucknell with two goals and Nina Benson and Emily Konishi both had two assists.

• Hofstra defeated Bucknell, 13-1, in women’s lacrosse in the Bison’s second game of the year. The Pride jumped out to an early 6-0 lead.

• In men’s lacrosse, Mitch Goldberg scored with 31 seconds left in regulation to give Richmond a 9-8 win over Bucknell in a back-and-forth affair.

Down by a goal entering the fourth quarter, Lycoming erased the deficit and took a two-goal lead within 150 seconds and went on to post six goals to down Susquehanna, 12-9, for the first time since 2012 in both teams’ season opener.

• Kayla Braithwaite broke Lock Haven’s 300-meter school record as she paced Lock haven at the Denaeault Invitational at Cornell with a time of 43.06, breaking the mark by .06 seconds.

Quanda Williams hit a season-best in the 400 with a time of 1:01.68 for Mansfield to hit a PSAC-qualifying time. Charlsie Bowen finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters.

• The fourth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks beat Bucknell, 32-4, in the second game of a three-game series in college baseball. Luke Johnson had two hits and two runs batted in for Bucknell
