Local college roundup: Hinton, Hunt not enough for LHU men

Lock Haven lost on the road at Bloomsburg, 85-77, in men’s basketball on Saturday.

Amir Hinton led the Bald Eagles with 18 points, Ra’eese Hunt finished 15 points and nine rebounds, Matt Ceruti and Jihad Barnes had 14 and 13 points.

Matt Tamanosky and Malik Carter combined for 39 points, but East Stroudsburg proved to be too much for Mansfield in an 82-67 loss for the Mounties.

Penn College watched a nine-point halftime lead slip in away as Bryn Athyn outscored the Wildcats in the second half to earn a 63-53 win.

Loyalsock grad Ben Sosa led the Wildcats scoring with 14 points and Jesse White had a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double performance.

• The LHU women’s basketball team dropped a road game at Bloomsburg, 66-54. The Lock Haven offense was led by a strong performance by Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh who scored 17 points, had four rebounds and a steal.

Mia Leonard dropped a career-high 15 points and 14 rebounds, but the Mounties dropped a 60-44 decision to East Stroudsburg.

Penn College dropped a 66-56 decision to Bryn Athyn in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women’s basketball game.

Tori Wolfe led the Wildcats with 20 points and Ericka Lepley added 17.

Bucknell made double-digit 3-pointers against Lafayette for the second time this season while rolling to an 80-57 win over the Leopards.

Kate Walker shot had a game-high 21 points to lead Bucknell in scoring for a sixth consecutive game.

• Connor O’Harra led Bucknell in an 11-9 comeback win over Marist as he recorded four goals for the Bison in their first win of the season in men’s lacrosse.
