Local roundup: Kauffman scores 1,000th at Shore

Jersey Shore’s Hannah Kauffman led the Bulldogs with a 16-point performance, and in the process recorded her 1,000th point, as Jersey Shore lost to Mifflinburg, 44-32, in girls basketball on Thursday.

Kauffman was the only Bulldogs player in double digits scoring.

Grace Kelleher led Lewisburg with 14 points as Lewisburg defeated Selinsgrove, 44-26. Emily Sholly had a near double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds while also having four blocks.

My­kenzie Malacusky’s 18 points helped Sullivan County to a 53-33 win over North Penn-Mansfield. Je­ssica King added 12 and Alexis Randall and Sophia Springman both added 7. Joanne McNamara led Mansfield scoring with 13 points.

Emma Bigelow, Kassidi Lenhart help Muncy to a 66-19 win over North Penn-Liberty. Bigelow finished with 12 points, Lenhart had a team-high 14, Sasha McMonigal and Makenna SNyder both finished with 9.

Abigail Henderson’s performance led St. John Neumann to a 50-42 win over Bucktail. Henderson finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks. Shayna McNamee had 12 and Anne Weller had 9. Emily Cross led Bucktail scoring with 14 points.

Megan Weber’s 11 points were not enough as South Williamsport fell to Benton, 58-38. Sydeny Bachman added 9 points and Alyssa Johnson had 7. Benton was led by Dayna Kingsbury’s 22 points and Emily Lockhart’s 15.

• In boys basketball, Dylan Meyer and Garrett David’s double-doubles powered Mansfield to a 65-54 win over Edison. Myer finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds, David had 16 points, 11 rebounds. Brent Burleigh added a team-high 17 points and Nick Kasper had 9.

Montoursville defeated Milton, 65-42, as John McCarthy led the Warriors with 18 points. Luke War­necke had 16, Owen Kiess had 11, and Austin Loe had 10. Alex Garcia led Milton with 11 points, Quaylin Rice and Tony Manzano both with 10.

• In wrestling, Chris­tian Wachter sealed Warrior Run’s 36-30 win over Mt. Carmel. At 182, Wachter worked for a 1:17 pin over Damon Dowkus with the meet tied at 30-30. Noah Hunt, Jeremy Hanford and Dylan Kolenda also got pins for the Defenders.

Hughesville defeated Central Columbia, 55-41, in boys basketball on Thursday. Matt Myers had a team-high 23 points and five rebounds. Taylor Mason had a near triple-double with 11 points, even rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.

John Saxe had 15 points and a team-high seven assists to help Sullivan County beat CMVT, 69-32. Justin Metzger added 15 for the Griffins and Sam Carpenter scored 10.

• In men’s basketball, Despite a 39-point performance by Amir Hinton, Lock Haven couldn’t defeat East Stroudsburg as the Bald Eagles lost, 118-102. Ra’eese Hunt added 21 points for Lock Haven and Jihard Barnes (12), Matt Cerruti (11) and Tarojae Brake (10) all were in double digits scoring for Lock Haven.

Wells College dealt Penn College a 90-54 loss. Robert Young Jr. and Erik Perry Jr. both had 13 points.

Matt Tamanosky led four Mounties in double-figure scoring, but West Chester proved to be too much, coming away with a 96-59 win over Mansfield.

• In women’s basketball, Lock Haven rallied late, but dropped a tough 76-68 game at East Stroudsburg.

• Bucknell women’s soccer coach Kelly Cook announced the addition of six incoming frehsmen for 2018. The incoming class features three defenders in Holly Burns, Alana Carlucci and Claire Mensi, two forwards in Kate Henesey and Emilene Parham, and goalkeeper Raegan Dunwoodie.
