Local roundup: Welker, McNulty help Sock softball win

Katie Welker and Summer McNulty both went 3 for 4 as McNulty added a triple and Loyalsock rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Fort LeBoeuf from Erie, 7-5, in the final game of a tournament in South Carolina.

Sam Stopper went 2 for 3 with a team-high five RBIs and scored three runs. Juliana Cruz went 2 for 2.

• In high school baseball, Williamsport wrapped up its week at Myrtle Beach with an 11-6 loss to South County, Va., in the Mingo Bay Classic.

Williamsport (1-4) belted out eight hits, led by a 2 for 3 effort from Quentin Brown and a two-run home run from Cody Shimp.

• In boys tennis, Carter Casimir had a 6-0, 6-0 win over Collin Kruczek at No. 1 singles for Lewisburg and helped the Green Dragons blank Bloomsburg, 5-0.

Zach Higgans had a 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 (super tiebreak) win at No. 3 singles for Lewisburg.

• In men’s tennis, Penn College used a doubles sweep to knock off Elmira, 6-3.

St. John Neumann grad Stephen Helminiak won at No. 6 singles for Penn College, 6-1, 6-2.
