Lewisburg grad Sumfest makes U-21 field hockey team

Lewisburg grad Cassie Sumfest was named to the United States U-21 Women’s National Team for field hockey as one of 17 athletes that made the cut after three training camp weekends.

Sumfest, who plays at North Carolina, will be one of 17 to head to Tucuman, Argentina, from June 10-18 to play a three-game test series against Argentina’s U-21 team.

“This tour presents a unique opportunity for the U-21 group as it will be happening in conjunction with the senior team tour,” said U-21 USWNT coach Phil Edwards in a statement. “PLaying directly before the senior games, in front of passionate Argentinian support, promises to only add to what has been a very productive six months together as a team so far.”

Others on the roster are Kendall Ballard (Ohio), Kelsey Bing (Stanford), Virginia Bramley (PSU), Katrina Carter (Cal Berkeley), Brooke Deberdine (Maryland), Linnea Gonzalez (Maryland), Kelee Lepage (Maryland), Madison Maguire (Maryland), Mikayla Michals (Provindence), Kealsie Robies (ODU), Taylor Stone (Louisville), Sophia Tornetta (Princeton), Christie Van de Kamp (William & Mary), Jillian Wolgemuth (Duke), Elise Wong (Princeton) and Corinne Zanolli (Stanford).
