ROUNDUP: Sock comes from behind to beat Lewisburg

In high school baseball, Anthony Pastore pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, while striking out seven, and Loyalsock scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come from behind and beat Lewisburg, 3-2. Chase McNulty and Eric Holz each went 1 for 3 with a double. Aaron Hoover struck out three in the complete game for Lewisburg, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

Montoursville’s Logan Ott moved to 4-0 on the season with 6 1/3 innings of one-hit ball in a 4-0 win over Danville. Ott struck out nine and waked just two for Montoursville, which tallied just one hit, but scored a run in the third and three more in the fourth.

Coty Steele pitched four innings of one-run ball and Colby Alpaugh struck out six in three innings of relief as Muncy defeated Benton, 8-2. Nate Paisley went 3 for 4 with a double and Steele, Tanner Gold and Chad McAlwee each posted two hits.

Millville jumped out to a 10-0 first-lead and 27 batters came to the plate in the second inning as the Quakers made quick work of Bucktail, winning 38-1 in three innings.

Montgomery scored all eight runs over its final three at-bats to post an 8-3 win over St. John Neumann in high school baseball. Gage Yohn drove in a pair of runs for the Red Raiders and picked up the win on the mound.

Carson Davis struck out 13 over five innings as Wellsboro defeated Cowanesque Valley, 7-2. Dalton Prough drove in a pair of runs for the Green Hornets, and Silas Wagaman and Caleb Tennis each had a pair of hits.

Hunter Corbin went 2 for 3 with an RBI, but South Williamsport made five errors and lost to Bloomsburg, 13-3 in six innings. Logan Burkett added an RBI single but the Mounties (6-4) lost for just the second time in eight games after cutting a four-run first-inning deficit in half by the fourth inning.

• Megan Herriman tossed a two-hit shutout and Warrior Run pounded out 15 hits in four innings in a 15-0 win over Montgomery in high school softball. Gina Beyer and Haley Miller each had three hits for the Defenders, who improved to 10-0.

Lewisburg pounded out 17 hits, including home runs for Katie Koch and Sydney Hoffman in a 22-4 win over East Juniata. The Green Dragons scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule.

Savanah Doney threw a 1-hitter, struck out nine and homered as North Penn-Liberty routed Benton, 11-1 in five innings. Mackenzie Heater had a big day, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs and Brooke Harvey and Abby Heatley delivered two hits each. The Mounties (7-1) host Wyalusing Wednesday with the winner taking sole possession of first in the NTL-I.

Jersey Shore pounded out 15 hits as the Bulldogs defeated Wellsboro, 14-4. Alyssa Stover drove in four runs for Jersey Shore, and Gabby Vuocolo drove in three.

Williamsport outhit undefeated Mifflin County by five but could not erase an early two-run deficit in a 2-1 loss at Mifflin County. Avery Eiswerth and Skyler Colarusso combined on a three-hitter and Eiswerth also had two hits. Mariah Wright doubled and Elaina Stone hit an RBI single.

MacKenzie Weaver threw a four-hit gem and Jordan McCarthy hit a walk-off single as Montoursville defeated Central Columbia, 2-1. McCarthy delivered her second walk-off hit this season and Weaver continued her strong pitching while driving in Montoursville’s first run with a sacrifice fly. Kaitlyn Klotz added two hits for Montoursville, including a double.

Muncy scored eight runs in its final three innings as it defeated Canton, 11-9. Five Indians notched two hits, led by Makenna Snyder and Annabelle Bergey, who each went 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

• Central Columbia never allowed more than four games in a set as it swept Montoursville in high school boys tennis, 5-0.

Alek Hamilton and Alex Geyer teamed up for Loyalsock’s lone win at No. 2 doubles as the Lancers lost to Danville, 4-1. Hamilton and Geyer picked up a 7-5, 6-4 win for the Lancers.

Lewisburg remained undefeated heading into today’s District 4 team tournament with a 4-1 win over Central Mountain. Drew King picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles for the Green Dragons.

Ty Jackson posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles as Williamsport defeated Selinsgrove, 5-0. Kevin Zheng and Tiarnan Ferry each added straight-sets wins in singles for the Millionaires.

Niall Lanks and Dylan Lietch at No. 1 doubles and Lincoln Lilly and Luke Maneval at No. 2 doubles each picked up wins to lead Jersey Shore to a 3-2 win over Milton.

Jonathan Nelson, Zach Fetzer each picked up two wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, as North Penn-Liberty took two games in a doubleheader, beating Cowanesque Valley, 5-2, and topping Galeton, 6-1.

• After 8 1/2 minutes of heart-pounding overtime had already expired, senior Garrett Huff got the ball at the top of the box, sprinted straight to the left side of the crease, then circled the back of the net came to the right edge, dove and with his left hand flipped into the left corner of the net, giving the No. 4 seed Lycoming College men’s lacrosse team a dramatic 6-5 triple overtime win over No. 5 Lebanon Valley College in the first round of the MAC Commonwealth Championship.

After being down 5-1 in the third quarter, Lebanon Valley scored two goals in the third quarter and then added two Kevin Beaver goals in a 34-second span late in the fourth quarter to tie it with 3 minutes left. In the final 3 minutes, neither team could manage a shot on goal, although Lebanon Valley took two shots and Lycoming one.
