Cutters washed out in Batavia

Rain in New York on Saturday caused the postponement of the final of a three-game series between the Williamsport Crosscutters and the Batavia Muckdogs.

The two teams split the first two games of the series on Thursday and Friday, with Batavia winning in walk-off fashion Thursday night, and the Williamsport offense exploding for a 9-7 win Friday.

Manuel Silva makes his second start of the season today for the Cutters as they open a three-game series in Mahoning Valley. Silva threw six shutout innings in his first start, striking out five.

Williamsport starting pitchers have allowed just one run in the last six games, posting a 0.27 ERA over the last week. The Cutters are tied for the league lead with a 2.75 team ERA with Brooklyn entering Saturday’s games.
