Golf tip of the week: Maintain connection to increase core power

PHOTO PROVIDED Refer to throwing an object with the core. It should feel compact and hands free.

The body’s core must be involved in any athletic motion, such as throwing a football. When striking a golfball the club must remain in front of the chest, and the upper armpits should stay married to the sides of the upper ribcage.

The hands, arms and club should stop when the left shoulder stops on the backswing.

Disconnection occurs when the hands reach higher than the shoulder can take them. The right elbow should remain away from the body pointing to the ground. The left arm should be across the chest and connected as it was at address.

The elbows must remain the same distance apart throughout the swing. This keeps the club and shaft on the proper swing plane.

Don’t forget to enjoy this great game called golf.
