Local roundup: South minor softball wins at East Region Invitational
At the East Region Invitational minor softball tournament, South Williamsport opened with a 7-3 win over Delaware on Saturday at Jenkins Township.
South was led by Lynna Clark, who was 2 for 2 with a home run and an RBI, and Alizabeth Schuler, who went 2 for 2 with two triples. Maddie Pinkerton went 1 for 2 with an RBI and Emma McLaughlin went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Mia McNaul and Danica Bacorn also went 1 for 2.
• At the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional, the West End 15-year-old all-stars defeated Mifflin County, 5-0.
Logan Ott threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout. Dane Armson went 2 for 3 with a double and Dallas Griess, Owen Arndt and Caleb Reddy all had two hits each.
• The West End 14-year-old all-stars erased deficits of three runs and two runs, tying the game in the top of the seventh before dropping a 7-6 heartbreaker to Altoona in the winners’ bracket final of the Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament.
Spencer Gross went 2 for 2 for West End.
