With over 3 ½ inches of rain falling from Saturday into Sunday morning, the 89th Williamsport Invitational almost didn’t crown a champion. The event had never been cancelled and this year proved to be no different. Williamsport’s Green Superintendent, Paul Krout and his staff worked diligently to prepare a course for the competitors, although the second hole needed to be closed due to wet conditions. The tournament chairman, Warren J. Choate, and PGA head professional Chris Macdonald made the decision to modify the final round to a better ball of partners format in order to complete the event with the threat of afternoon showers.

The players began at 10 a.m. with the winners’ brackets playing 17-holes and the consolation brackets playing 9-holes. At the conclusion of play, the 89th Williamsport Invitational champions were Zach Prowant and Kyle Deisher with a score of 62. The win was the second for the team. Their first victory came in 2015.
