West End 13s win district championship
In the District 8 championship game at Logue Field on Sunday afternoon, the West End 13-year-olds won another district title as it downed Mifflin County, 13-3 in five innings.
West End jumped out to a 6-0 first-inning lead and extended that to an eight-run advantage with runs in the second and third innings. West End scored at least one run in every inning and during the tournament scored a run in 15 of 17 innings.
Grant Bachman earned the win, pitching three strong innings and went 2 for 3 with two runs.
James Batkowski scored three times and Eli Eberhart added two hits and two runs for West End, which takes on the District 1 runner-up in sectionals at Franklin Park on Wednesday.
