PSU women win exhibition opener of foreign trip in Spain

MADRID — The Penn State women’s basketball team opened its foreign trip to Spain with a 108-81 win over CD CREF Madrid Saturday evening.

The game served as the first of three exhibition contests for Penn State, who are in the midst of a 10-day trip to Spain from Aug. 9-18.

Penn State led wire-to-wire in the contest against the Spanish All-Star team based in Madrid. The Nittany Lions effort featured balanced scoring with contributions from up and down the roster, including six double-digit scorers.

Senior Teniya Page led the squad with 24 points, due in part to a 14-point first quarter. Sophomore Alisia Smith followed with a 20-point effort, 10 of which came in the third quarter.
