Local roundup: NP-Liberty girls tennis falls against Towanda in opener

North Penn-Liberty lost its season opener in girls tennis to Towanda, 6-0. Liberty’s KT Nealen lost at No. 4 singles to Cassie Swakhamer, 6-2, 6-4. Jena Koser lost at No. 3 singles to Emily Morris, 6-2, 7-5.

• In women’s field hockey, MacKenzie Farley and Tamia Roach each scored twice to help Lock Haven defeat Towson, 6-0, in the Bald Eagles’ home opener.

Olivia Harris recorded seven saves in her first career win and five Bucknell players scored in a 5-0 victory against Cornell.

• Lycoming’s Chris Solecki recorded his 12th career shutout to help lead Lycoming to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Grove City.

Solecki’s 12 career shutouts are sixth in school history, one shy of tying David Bald (2006-09).
