Local roundup: South’s Warner records 50th goal

In girls soccer, South Williamsport’s Lela Warner totaled three goals and two assists, reaching 50 career goals in the process, as South Williamsport topped Muncy, 11-1.

South jumped out to an 8-0 first-half and scored five goals in the first 10 minutes. Bella Green also notched a hat trick and Haley Neidig tallied two goals.

Jersey Shore lost to Central Columbia 8-1. The Bulldogs’ lone goal came from Annalise Eiswerth, who scored on a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Anna Burdett and Juliana Cruz each scored in Loyalsock’s 2-0 win over Warrior Run.

Morgan Hopkins scored twice and CC Getz had two assists as Hughesville defeated Line Mountain, 3-1. Gillian Way added a goal and assist for the Spartans.

Sophia Springman, Bethany Beinlich and Chloe Burke all had three goals in Sullivan County’s 12-3 win over NEB.

Katy Weaver, Leah Bergey, Leah Walter, Taylor Snyder and Crystal Hamilton all scored a goal as Milton blanked Central Mountain, 5-0.

• In boys soccer, Eli Edkin hit a nice pass over the top of the defense to a sprinting Nick Trevouledes, who scored the game-winner 4:37 in overtime to lift Hughesville to a 2-1 win over Milton. Trevouledes scored his first goal midway through the first half before his game-winner.

Owen Yoder notched Milton’s lone goal, while Colton Loreman made 11 saves. Steven Millheim made four saves for Hughesville.

Alex Hazzoum tallied a hattrick and Tyrese Hazzoum scored the other two goals as the brothers lifted Warrior Run to a 5-0 win over Line Mountain.

Wellsboro scored five first-half goals and added another eight in the second in a 13-0 rout over Sayre. Brett Rudy had four goals and Will Poirier added three.

South beat Jersey Shore, 2-1. Curtis Sauers had the go-ahead goal for the Mounties. South lost earlier to Midd-West, 11-0.

• In girls tennis, Hannah Castellan put up a fight at No. 3 singles, falling in three sets, but Lewisburg fell to Selinsgrove, 5-0.

• In girls field hockey, Warrior Run and Muncy remained scoreless until midway through the first half when senior Kassidi Lenhart scored on a penalty corner from sophomore Lily Moyer to help the Indians defeat the Defenders, 3-1.

• South Williamsport graduate Dominick Bragalone was held to just 18 rushing yards on seven carries in Lehigh’s 31-9 loss in college football to Villanova.

• In men’s soccer, Lock Haven was edged by New York Institute of Technology in a tightly contested 1-0 game

Penn College dropped a nail-biting 3-2 decision in overtime to Penn State Abington. Chris McFarland and Seth Bilbie gave Penn College an early 2-0 lead.

• Lock Haven used an early goal to fuel the 3-1 win over Edinboro in women’s soccer. The Bald Eagles had three players score.

Morgan Brooks and Kaelan Cronan each scored two goals as Penn College shut out Penn State Abington 6-0.

• Lycoming defeated Dickinson College, 3-0, and Clarks Summit, 3-0, in women’s volleyball. Alyssa McDevitt was named to the all-tournament team.

• Meghan Griffin and Emily Sadowski each scored goals and Mansfield’s defense led by Madison Wilinsky did not allow a shot as the Mounties women’s field hockey team blanked St. Michael’s, 2-0.

• Daniel Moses and Kaylee Long led Lycoming in the Shannon Henretty Invitational. Moses led the 10th-place men’s team, finishing 63rd in a field of 122 in the 8k run. Long finished 43rd out of a field of 117.
