Local roundup: Laudenslager helps lift South

South Williamsport’s Ethan Laudenslager posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double and dished out a team-high six assists as the Mounties defeated Warrior Run, 67-63, on Tuesday night in boys basketball.

Cole Lentz led the Mounties with a 19-point performance and Pete Sinibalid added 16 points.

Anthony Pastore scored 19 points, Gerald Ross chipped in 18 and Aidan Gair scored 16 as Loyalsock defeated Milton, 66-40, to remain undefeated early in the season.

After leading by just one point in the first quarter, Loyalsock outscored Milton, 25-8, in the second.

Sullivan County’s Sam Carpenter had a near double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds as the Griffins defeated CMVT, 52-39.

Dave Pardoe led the team with 11 rebounds and Jalen Thomas had a team-high five steals.

Bucktail had four players in double figures as the Bucks beat Montgomery in a rout, 63-33.

Gabrielle Conway (13 points), Gavin Becker (12), Alex Intallura (10) and Richard Perry (10) all led the way for Bucktail.

Montgomery was led by Steven Prince, who had 11 points.

Muncy fell behind by 13 in the first quarter and couldn’t quite battle back, losing on the road to Millville, 67-43.

Kolby Moyer led Muncy with 13 points and Noah Rymsza added nine points.

St. John Neumann rolled to a win over Benton 61-20. Neumann was led by Malaki Parlante’s 21 points and David Hill’s 19.

Jakob Bower contributed big off the bench grabbing 10 rebounds for the Golden Knights.

Jersey Shore pulled out a thrilling win over Shamokin, 61-60, to remain undefeated. The Bulldogs’ received a 31-point effort from Nate Ewing and 17 from Eli Fishel.

• Cameron County limited Galeton to single digits in all four quarters as Galeton lost in girls basketball, 57-18.

Cameron County’s Kaylee Bressling scored 16 points as her team took an 11-point lead after the first quarter and led by 22 heading into halftime. Galeton was led by Brielle Kalacinski’s six points and Katelyn Pagano’s four.

Sullivan County earned a win against Muncy, 46-35. Mykenzie Malacasky scored 18 points en route to a 5-1 start for the Griffins.

Muncy was led by Bell Hitesman’s career-high 12 points.

Wellsboro defeated North Penn-Mansfield, 58-44. The Green Hornets were led by Emma Poirier’s 18 points and Cathryn Brought’s 11 points. Bailey Monks scored 10 as well.

Mansfield’s Joanne McNamara scored 17 points.

• Hughesville’s Luke Gorg pinned Montgomery’s Devon Deem in just 52 seconds in their 138-pound match as the Spartans defeated Montgomery, 57-18, in high school wrestling.

Hughesville’s Bea Draper pinned Ben Marino in 61 seconds at 170 pounds. Montgomery’s Blake Snyder won at 113 pounds thanks to a pin in 1 minute, 21 seconds.

• Holding a two-point lead with 19 seconds remaining, Lycoming senior Jordan Logan forced a turnover just outside the 3-point line and drilled two free throws to lift the Lycoming College men’s basketball team to a 79-75 non-conference victory over Chatham.

Markanthony Fidelis scored a team-high 21 points, while hitting four 3-pointers, the fifth straight game he hit at least three. Calvin Chandler netted a career-high 14 points, going 6-of-12 from the floor and pulling in six rebounds. D’Andre Edmond also had a career-high 14 points, going a perfect 4 of 4 from the line.

Penn College’s Ryan Lockman posted a double-double, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats fell at home to Marymount University, 88-61.

Lockman had a team-high 19 points to go along with his 14 rebounds. Loyalsock grad Ben Sosa came up just shy of a double-double with 14 points, eight boards. Oben Luxama added 10. Marymount had 15 players score at least two points.

Lock Haven turned it up in the second half on the road and made a big run late to get back into the game, but Lock Haven was edged out by Slippery Rock, 79-71.

Matt Cerruti led Lock Haven with 20 points and Chrisitan Kelly added 18. Jaylen Washington scored 10 for the Bald Eagles as well.

Mansfield used a strong second half to pull to as close as six points, but Edinboro proved to be too much as the Mountaineers fell, 82-73.

Nysir Marshburn led Mansfield with 16 points and had five rebounds. Taylor Sweeney added 12 points.

• Despite a team-high 20 points from Rileigh Devine and a career-high 16 points from freshman Taylor Leidy, the Lock Haven women’s basketball team lost tonight on the road at Slippery Rock, 77-66.

Bink Redman was LHU’s third player in double-figures as she netted 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.
