Local roundup: Neumann’s Hill drops career-high 30

St. John Neumann received a career-high 30 points from sophomore David Hill, who went an impressive 10 of 15 from the line, to lead the Golden Knights to a 67-60 overtime win over Sullivan County.

Dave Pardoe finished with 10 rebounds and Sam Carpenter scored 16 points while going 6 of 9 from the floor for Sullivan County.

Brandyn Tuttle poured in a game-high 18 points to lead Wellsboro to their second straight win by defeating Williamson, 65-28.

Noah Rymsza dropped a game-high 28 points and Kolby Moyer added 17 for Muncy, who beat CMVT, 78-62.

North-Penn Mansfield had three players score in double-figures, led by Jayden Andrews with 15, in a 69-55 victory over Sayre.

Montgomery dropped a heart-breaking 31-28 game to Benton. Nate Watson had 14 points for Benton and Logan Ameldia led the Red Raiders with 14 as well.

Zach Rentzel hit a trio of 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 23 points as Canton defeated Wyalusing, 57-44, in boys basketball. Ben Knapp added 11 points for the Warriors.

Millville got back above .500 thanks to a 20-point win against Bucktail, 49-29. Bucktail was led by Gavin Becker’s eight.

Montoursville outscored Central Columbia 21-5 in the fourth quarter overcoming a 15 point deficit to win, 53-50. Dillon Young scored 19 and Dylan Bower added 11. Montoursville also got 10 points from Austin Loe.

Southern Columbia cruised to a 76-56 win over South Williamsport. Julian Fleming led the way for Southern with 27 points. South was led by Ethan Laudenslager’s 11 points.

• In girls basketball, Galeton lost on the road to Coudersport, 56-24. Brielle Kalacinski led Galeton with eight points and Katelyn Pagano chipped in seven. Galeton trailed by 11 points after the first quarter.

Montoursville fell to Shamokin, 58-48. The Warriors were led by Lydia Albert’s 21 points, her third consecutive 20-point game.

Emma Poirier (16) and Liza Manning (12) combined for 28 points but Wellsboro dropped an NTL game to Sayre, 40-33.

• After the first day of competition, 12 local wrestlers advanced to the King of the Mountain quarterfinals, which will be wrestled this morning at Central Mountain in high school wrestling.

Central Mountain’s Derek Keen (106 pounds), Johnny Shreffler (120), Dalton Bechdel (126), Alonzo Henry (152), Tanner Riggle (220) and Jacob Edwards (285) advanced. Williamsport’s Braden Bower (113), Riley Bower (120) and Anthony Robinson (160) and Muncy’s Christian Good (145), Ty Nixon (160) and Mike Kustnabauter (182) also advanced.

Hughesville improved to 5-1 this year by posting a 4-1 record at the Blue Mountain Gauntlet. The Spartans picked up wins over Pleasant Valley, Williams Valley, Tri-Valley and Schuylkill Haven before falling to Blue Mountain in the finals. No individual scores were available.

Muncy’s Brandt and Conner Harer recently won a combined 20 matches at the VAC Holiday Duals in Virginia recently, representing Pennsylvania in the dual-mee tournament.

Competing at 110 pounds, Conner Harer went 10-1, earning seven bonus-point wins, including on fall and five technical falls. At 80 pounds, Brandt Harer went 10-1, with nine bonus-point victories, including two falls and two technical falls.

Brandt Harer’s PA Gold team finished third in the elementary gold bracket. Conner Harer’s Team PA Silver finished 10th in the Middle School Gold bracket.
