Local roundup: Cordrey’s career-high leads Hughesville over Benton

In girls basketball, Jade Cordrey scored an area-high and personal career-high, 34 points to lead Hughesville to a 58-33 victory against Benton. Cordrey drained a program-record six 3-pointers and went 6 of 7 from the line to help Hughesville improve to 6-4.

Aubrey Stetts scored a team-high points, but Jersey Shore was outscored in every quarter as it fell to Mifflinburg, 46-31.

• In men’s basketball, Bucknell senior center Nate Sestina had two big games to open up conference play last week, and he has been rewarded with Patriot League Player of the Week and Bison Athlete of the Week honors.

The Bison went 1-1 in two road games last week, coming from 26 points behind to beat Army 64-63 on Wednesday before falling to Boston University 87-80 on Saturday. Sestina averaged 24.3 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two games, while converting on 19 of 32 (.594) attempts from the floor and 9 of 15 (.600) from the 3-point arc.

• In women’s basketball, a pair of double-doubles in wins over regional rivals has helped Lycoming’s Kayla Kline earn her second MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week award of the season.

Kline averaged 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists to lead Lycoming to wins over Juniata and King’s. She notched 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 69-66 win over Juniata and followed that with 17 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in a 77-55 win over King’s. She hit 14-of-27 from the field and all three free throws.
