Lycoming swimmers end season on high note

Led by multiple wins from six swimmers, Lycoming won 23 events and both the men’s, 111-72, and women’s teams, 146-106, came away with wins against Lebanon Valley on Saturday.

In the women’s meet, the Warriors took home first-place finishes in all but three events led by Emilie Kramer who finished first in the 200-meter individual medley (2:41.51) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:56.50). Cara Zortman won the 100-meter freestyle (1:04.23) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.83). Zortman also team up with McKenna Zeller, Devon Kaiser and Amanda Waldo to place first in the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:57.80). Zeller won the 200-meter backstroke (2:32.40) and the 50-meter free (28.97), while Kaiser won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:25.38).

On the men’s side, Lycoming brought home first-place finishers in all but one event. Callan Jordan won the 50-meter free (25.37) and the 100-meter free (56.74). Jake Booth joined Jordan in winning multiple individual events, taking home the 200-meter free (2:06.01) and the 400-meter free (4:40.14).

Brandon Vought, Caleb Beard, Jordan and Booth won the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:48.77). Beard added a win in the 100-meter butterfly (1:07.55), while Vought won 200-meter backstroke with a swim of 2:28.46. Jordan and Beard picked up another relay win, joining Michael Pancyszyn and Blaise Finn with a swim of 1:59.83 in the 200-meter medley relay.

• In college wrestling, Penn College finished 2-1 at York College’s quad meet on Saturday and improved to 11-12. The Wildcats beat Southern Virginia, 30-9, and Penn State Mont Alto, while falling to No. 25 York 40-9.

Williamsport grad, Cam Dickey, reversed an early 2-0 deficit into a 10-2 win at 149 pounds. Dylan Gettys earned a major decision at 184, Jared Mooney edged out a 6-5 decision at 197 and Dylan Otis picked up a 3-1 decision at heavyweight against Southern Virginia.

Penn State-Mont Alto’s only points were forfeits at 125 and 133, before the Wildcats swept the rest of the match, Gavin Link earned an 8-0 major at 141, Walker followed with a major decision, and Makeela Fabrizio won 13-6 at 157.

Against York, Gettys’ injury default win at 174 and Otis’ decision at heavyweight were Penn College’s only two victories against the ranked Spartans.
