Bucknell falls to Holy Cross in series finale
Bucknell could not stop a four run eighth inning as the Bison fall to Holy Cross in the series finale on Sunday morning, in men’s baseball. JohnPaul Bell and Marc Chernin each had two hits and a run scored. Brendan Lowery hit a two-run double in the seventh inning.
• Penn College couldn’t hold on to a 7-2 lead as Penn State Berks rallied to knock off the Wildcats, 18-12, on Sunday. Richard Lennon hit a 2-run home run and Cole Hofmann had two hits for Penn College. Lennon, Hofmann, Ethan Ketterman and Samuel Zeigler all had two RBIs.
• In track, Lock Haven men and women finished their weekend at the 2019 Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. Central Mountin grad Laurel Moyer ran a personal best in the 10,000 meter finishing with a time of 35:49.49, cutting almost two and a half minutes off her previous best. Moyer’s NCAA provisional qualifying time missed LHU’s school record by just six seconds and ranks 11th in the nation. Karina Long finished in second place in the long jump with a personal best jump of 18-5.75, and 13th place in the triple jump, tying her personal best of 36-11.5. On the men’s side, LHU’s 400 relay team of Shyheim Brown, CJ Anderson, Darrian Berkinsand and Ryan Cruz won the 400 relay event with a time of 41.70. The time is the fastest on the year in the PSAC and also good for the sixth best time in Lock Haven history. Luke Vanderhoff ran to a seventh place finish and a PSAC qualifying time of 31:28.12 in the 10k and Marcus Disbrow finished eighth in the men’s hammer throw, recording a PSAC qualifying mark of 179-05.
• In women’s golf, Meredith Langs scored a career-best, 1-over-par 73 to claim medalist honors and lead Bucknell to the team title at the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Sunday at Tumble Brook Country Club. The Bison collectively scored a 306 final-round score and totaled 619 over 36 holes to defeat Fairfield (664) and Hartford (666) for the top prize.
