Neumann’s Weller sets school strikeout record

In high school softball, Anne Weller didn’t walk any, allowed just two earned runs and struck out 10, becoming St. John Neumann’s all time strikeouts leader with 345, but Neumann fell to CMVT, 6-2. Weller, who also hit a double, passed Christina Mignot to set the program record.

After a run in the seventh forced extra innings by Lewisburg, Montoursville won with a run in the eighth thanks to a Taylor Shuman home run to defeat the Green Dragons, 5-4.

Both MacKenzie Weaver and Jordan McCarthy had doubles.

Morgan Wetzel went 2 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and scored two runs and Alyssa Fisher was 3 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs as Central Mountain defeated Shikellamy in six innings, 15-5.

Autumn Dershem was 2 for 4 with a double and Jenny Skow and Bailee Renninger each had two hits.

Williamsport continued its early-season success as it collected nine hits and received outstanding pitching from Lynna Robertson as it defeated St. Mary’s, 14-2, in five innings.

Sammi Reeder and Elaina Stone each had two hits and combined for seven RBIs and three doubles as Williamsport scored in all four at-bats. Robertson threw four innings of scoreless, one-hit softball.

Hughesville scored in every inning as it won a high-scoring 13-11 contest against Southern Columbia. The Spartans (3-4) scored nine runs in the first three innings and Chylee Stroup went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. Olivia Miller also had two hits, while Megan Ryder doubled and drove in two runs.

North Penn-Liberty jumped out to a 3-0 lead and added five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game away in its 10-3 win over Wellsboro. Savannah Doney struck out five and earned the win for the Mounties. Ryann Adams and Heidi Zuchowski each tallied two hits for Wellsboro.

Hailey Stetts went 3 for 5 with a double and three RBIs and Aubrey Stetts was 3 for 3 with two runs scored in Jersey Shore’s 12-3 win against Milton.

Alyssa Stover, Brianna Herman, Arizona Shreck and Maddie Herman all had two hits each.

Milton was led by Austin Swallow (3 for 4). Cam Guisewite was 1 for 2 with a home run.

Mookie Sauers had a double and a run scored and Bella Bachman ripped a triple to knock in a run, but Bloomsburg used a six-run sixth inning en route to an 8-2 victory.

Bucktail scored multiple runs in every inning but one on their way to an 18-7 rout of Sullivan County.

• In high school baseball, Nick Barone (3-3, 3 doubles, 5 RBIs), Connor Watkins (3-4, double, 4 RBIs), Dane Armson (3-3, 2 RBIs) and Chase Cavanaugh (2-3, 3 RBIs) all picked up multiple hits and multiple RBIs to lead a Loyalsock offense that tallied 18 hits in an 18-1 win over Sayre.

Jacob Corson went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead Hughesville, but the Spartans fell to Bloomsburg, 13-1.

Hunter Shearer threw four scoreless innings in relief, while retiring his last 12 hitters and Dylan Bower went 3 for 4 with a double to lead Montoursville to a 9-1 victory over Midd-West.

• Hughesville defeated South Williamsport, 5-0. At No. 2 singles, Hughesville’s Spencer Thomas defeated South Williamsport’s Spencer Karasek, 7-5, 0-6, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, the Spartans’ team of Joey Swink and Ethan Snyder won 6-2, 6-7 (6), 10-5.

Montoursville lost to Central Columbia, 5-0. The Warriors’ Eli Ward lost at No. 3 singles to Central Columbia’s Will Bodenman, 2-6, 6-0, 6-2.

Wellsboro won the Nos. 1-3 singles matches all with 6-0, 6-0 scores en route to a 7-0 win against North Penn-Liberty. Luke Leach (No. 1 singles), Ethan Ryan (No. 2) and Zach Singer (No. 3) all won in addition to Joe Doty (No. 4) and Takumi Nasu (No. 5) for the Green Hornets.

Lewisburg swept doubles competition as David Han and Cole Casimir and Chen Chen Gu and Josh Nichols each picked up wins in Lewisburg’s 4-1 victory against Loyalsock. Connor Rude earned Loyalsock’s lone win with a 6-4, 7-5 decesion at No. 1 singles.

Ty Baker and Simon Wallace picked up the game-deciding point at No. 1 doubles to lift Williamsport to a 3-2 win over Danvile. Baker and Wallace won 6-0, 7-5 as Williamsport moved to 7-0 on the season.

Muncy lost to Towanda, 5-0. The Indians’ Trey McCollum lost to Ryan Risch, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

Central Mountain swept doubles action to secure a 3-2 victory over Jersey Shore

• In girls track and field, Lewisburg won 15 events, including two first-place finishes for Lizabeth Fessler and Siena Brazier as it defeated Midd-West, 117-32.

• In boys track and field. Lewisburg took first in 16 events, including two wins each from James Kocnis, Alex Sabo and Darren Baidoo as the Green Dragons rolled to a 120-27 win over Midd-West.

• In college softball, Lewisburg graduate Taylor Gessner went 4 for 8 with a double and a run scored, but Lycoming dropped a pair of non-conference games to Misericordia, 4-3 and 6-1.
