Football roundup: Hauser breaks rushing mark at Wellsboro
Aidan Hauser ran for 237 yards on 20 carries to help Wellsboro defeat Towanda, 54-12, and in the process broke the school’s all-time career rushing mark.
Hauser now has 3,502 rushing yards on 403 carries in his career, averaging 8.68 yards per carry.
The Green Hornets’ running back proved to be tough again, rushing for three touchdowns in Wellsboro’s victory. Hauser had runs of 34, 39 and 14 yards to help Wellsboro built a 38-12 lead after three quarters.
The Green Hornets had 405 rushing yards and ended the night with 431 total yards.
Darryn Callahan had an 88-yard interception return for Wellsboro. Defensively, Tyler Hancock led the team wtih nine tackles and Carson Davis added seven. In his first game played, Clayton Osborne recorded four tackles. Ethan Brought recovered a fumble.
• Lewisburg’s Max Moyers ran for 133 yards and found the endzone four times in Lewisburg’s 41-6 rout against Milton.
The win improves Lewisburg to .500 with a 2-2 record and Milton (0-4) is still searching for its first win.
Moyers averaged over 10 yards per rush for the Green Dragons and Nick Shedleski threw for 196 yards and five receivers had receptions.
Milton had eight first downs and gained five of them on a fourth-quarter touchdown drive that ate up nine minutes.
• Central Columbia defeated Hughesville, 43-7. Mikey Dylina led the Spartans with 99 rushing yards and had the team’s only touchdown with a 13-yard score in the third quarter.
The Blue Jays built up a 35-0 lead before Hughesville scored to avoid being shut out.
Hughesville gained 206 yards of total offense, 170 came on the ground as the passing game didn’t materialize.
Troy Johnson nearly had 200 rushing yards as he ran for 193 and three touchdowns for Central Columbia. He had the first two touchdowns for the Blue Jays and scored his third in the third quarter.
• North Penn-Mansfield lost to Troy on the road, 39-6. Mansfield was limited to just 97 yards of total offense. The team’s only touchdown came in the third quarter with 10 minutes remainig when Bryan Bogaczyk had a 28-yard touchdown run to avoid the shutout and make it a 39-6 deficit.
Troy scored 24 points in the first quarter.
Troy had a pair of 100-yard rushers as Caleb Binford had 15 carries for 110 yards and Damien Landon had 24 for 154. Landon ended with three touchdown runs for 29, 1 and 8 yards. Binford had a 20-yard score in the first quarter.
Troy took a 39-6 lead into the half.
Dom Ayres had success passing as well, going 10 for 14 for 101 yards.
Mansfield’s leading rusher was Bogaczyk, who had 90 yards on 10 carries.
• Canton won at home convincingly against Bucktail, 52-14.
