ROUNDUP: Quintana runs state’s best time for Sock

Alejandro Quintana clocked the fastest time in the state this fall as he took the top spot in a boys cross country meet between five teams Tuesday. Loyalsock’s reigning district champion clocked a winning time of 15 minutes, 27 seconds, more than 3 seconds better than the previous Class AA best time in the state this year. Hughesville’s Hunter Foust finished second in 16:12, and Spartans teammate Ryan Bahr was fourth in 16:19.

Henry Lyon crossed the finish line first for Wiliamsport in 16:34 before a pack of Lewisburg runners finished second through seventh. Williamsport’s Ethan Holcomb (18:12), Gavin Fuhrey (18:19), Owen Mahon (18:19) and Connor Murray (18:28) rounded out the top 10.

Warrior Run defeated Mountoursville, Mount Carmel and Selinsgrove at home. Damien Moser ran a 16:45 and Caden Dufrene crossed the line in third (17:40). Jersey Shore top runner Tanner Allison was fifth, running an 18:48, and Jeremiah Souloff was Montoursville’s top runner in 10th place.

• Emmas Tredinnick finished fifth overall for Loyalsock, and Micah Sagar took sixth in a girls cross country meet. Tredinnick finished in 20:17, less than a minute behind the winner, and Sagar finished in 20:32.

Lydia Smith won with a time of 20:24 for Williamsport. Hannah Mirahshi (second, 20:56) led the next five Lewisburg runners, and Katie Bruce was eighth in 21:52.

Lauren Trapani, Emma Miller and Abby Hoffman finished in the top three for Warrior Run, which swept its home meet with Jersey Shore, Montoursville, Mount Carmel and Selinsgrove. Abby Gerst (20:49) finished fourth for Jersey Shore and Raya Pauling (21:40) was 10th for Montoursville.

• Austin Lewis broke the Hughesville high school career goals record with his second goal in a 6-1 win over South Williamsport in high school boys soccer. Lewis’ 77 career goals passed the career mark previously held by Kati Shaner. Nick Trevouledes recorded four goals and Hayden Swinehart scored off an assist by Quaid Molino for the Mounties.

Williamsport blanked Shikellamy, 8-0. Hemberth Pena-Vasquez recorded a hat trick to lead the Williamsport offense. Wes Engel, Jimmy Pombor, Caleb Hill, Isaac Niemczyk and Samson Hill each added a goal.

Montoursville fell to Selinsgrove, 5-1. Colin Gorini was the lone scorer in the 39th minute for Montoursville, and Zach Baylor had 12 saves.

Joe Edkin and Muncy settled for a 1-1 tie with Benton. Edkin scored in the 15th minute off an assist from Isaac Boring before James DiLossi scored the equalizer in the 36th minute. Eli Slamka recorded 13 saves.

Connor Albaugh scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute, after assisting on Alex Hesier’s first-half goal, as Loyalsock defeated Southern Columbia, 2-1.

Carter Lilley tallied two scores, including the game-winning goal late in double overtime, his second game-winning overtime goal of the season, to lift Milton to a 3-2 double overtime win against Shamokin.

• Muncy dropped just 11 games in four competed matches as the Indians defeated St. John Neumann, 5-0, in high school girls tennis. Rory Oden posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for Muncy.

Wellsboro hled off North Penn-Liberty for a 4-3 win. Abigail Colton, Georgia Maceusky, Ashayla Faulkner and Riley Gerges each won in their respected singles matches. Deja Weaver won at No. 5 sinlges in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 10-7. Diana Dawes and Emma Eglesia won No. 1 doubles 6-2, 6-2.

• Two Muncy players scored as the Indians battled East Juniata to a 3-3 tie in high school field hockey. Hallie McClure scored a pair of goals for Muncy and Brooke Rishel added one. Isabelle Gush had two assists.

Lewisbsurg defeated Danville, 7-0. Gabby Markunas and Izzy Zaleski each had two goals and Zaleski added two more assists. Allie Mast, Abby Gilger and Madelin Miller each scored a goal.

• Montoursville won at Susquehanna Valley with a low score of 39 by Peyton Mussina. Central Mountain got a 42 from Jason Floruss and Williamsport’s low score was shot by Andrew McCann (45).

Lewisburg (172) and Milton (207) finished behind Danville and Midd-West at Shade Mountain’s par-36 course. Nick Mahoney shot a Lewisburg team-low 40, and Milton’s Anthony Neuer carded a 50.

• Elle Sarracco assisted Megan Oyler with 1:07 remaining in the first overtime period to lift Lycoming to a 1-0 win over Marywood. The game-winner gives Oyler a tie for the team-lead in goals (2) and Sarracco her first assist on the season.

• Three hitters finished with at least 10 kills, led by 12 from Elle Jednorski, as Lycoming defeated Widener, 3-1. Jednorski had two blocks to go with her team-high in kills and Kiannah Titus notched a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Senior Alysa McDevitt posted 10 kills and three blocks. Elizabeth Kelson added eight kills and three blocks.
