Local roundup: South Williamsport’s Neidig becomes 50-goal scorer

South Williamsport’s Haley Neidig became a 50-goal scorer thanks to scoring three goals in a 4-0 win over Millville on Tuesday in girls soccer.

The three goals puts Neidig at 51 for her career. Elizabeth Manning also scored for the Mounties.

Williamsport fired 13 shots, but the Millionaires lost in overtime to Mifflinburg, 1-0. Lila Vogelsong had six saves.

Montoursville blanked Central Mountain, 4-0, as Lily Saul scored twice. Abby Zartman and Bella Masias both had a goal as well.

Selinsgrove defeated Milton, 4-0. The Seals scored three second-half goals. Jessica Smith led Selinsgrove with two goals, and Lilian Poust and Sydney Shatzer both scored as well.

Kamryn Snyder had 10 saves for the Black Panthers.

• South Williamsport defeated Millville, 2-1, in overtime in boys soccer. Curtis Sauers scored both goals for the Mounties. Hayden Swinehart assisted Sauers’ game winner in the 10th minute of overtime. Brock Weaver finished with 10 saves in goal.

Loyalsock defeated Hughesville, 2-1. Alex Heiser and Brady Dowell scored for the Lancers. Justus Leighow assisted on Eli Edkin’s goal in the 31st minute.

Alvaro Garza-Seijo scored fourh goals in Wellsboro’s 8-2 win over Troy. Joseph Grab, Owen Richardson, Kaeden Mann and Zach Singer each scored a goal and Ethan Ryan had six saves in goal.

• Lewisburg field hockey blanked Midd-West, 5-0. Maddie Miller scored twice and Gabby Markunas had a goal and an assist.

• North Penn Liberty defeated Canton, 3-0, (25-14, 25-10, 25 18) in girls volleyball. Maddison Minyo had 10 points, 14 kills and eight digs. Charisma Grega had 12 kills and 20 digs.

JoAnne McNamara had 17 assists. Alison Koval had 14 points and 19 digs. Grace Tice added five kills and five blocks.

Wellsboro beat Athens, 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-7). Caitlyn Callahan had a team-high 21 kills for the Green Hornets and Megan Starkweather had 15 assists. Breigh Kemp added 15 assists and nine digs and Ryan Adams had a team-high 17 digs.

• The Lycoming College women’s soccer team fell to No. 2 Messiah College, 8-0, in MAC Commonwealth action. The Falcons received two first-half goals from Brooke Firestone to highlight a five-goal first half. Rachel Tirjan also scored two goals for the Falcons. Elle Sarracco led the Warriors with two shots. Jess Riordan and Bronwen Lewis each made four saves for the Warriors.

• Lock Haven lost to Bloomsburg in straight sets, 3-0, (25-21, 25-14, 25-19). Leading the way for LHU was Breanna McDonald who had 10 kills. Kristen Nealon had 21 assists and Madison Goodwin recorded 11 digs.
