Local roundup: Wellsboro girls volleyball tops WAHS

Williamsport had a pink out night Wednesday for girls volleyball, but the Millionaires lost to Wellsboro, 3-0.

No other statistics were made available.

Galeton lost to Oswayo Valley, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-16). Kate Kulish had 11 assists and eight digs and Makenna Shuemaker had a team-high nine digs. Alli Macensky led the team with 11 kills and Lauren Sauley had four digs.

• Gaby Markunas scored twice and Rylee Dyroff added a goal and assist in Lewisburg’s 3-0 win over Muncy in girls field hockey. Lewisburg held a 16-6 advantage in shots on goal.

• Sullivan County handed Millville its first loss since October 17 last year with a 1-0 double overtime victory in boys soccer.

Millville won last year’s boys Class A state championship. That loss last year was at Midd-West, 1-0.

Trace Neary scored the game-winning goal for the Griffins (11-4).

Cole Schaffer scored the game’s lone goal in Benton’s 1-0 win over Muncy.

Hayden Swinehart scored a goal and added an assist in South Williamsport’s 2-1 win over Hughesville. Gabe Larsen scored for the Spartans.

Jersey Shore beat Central Mountain, 1-0. Ross Fuller scored on an assist by Alex Butzler.

Lewisburg defeated Midd-West, 4-2. Anthony Bhangdia scored twice and Ben Liscum had three assists.

• North Penn-Mansfield defeated Northeast Bradford, 1-0. Gracie Snyder scored on an assist by Jaclyn Nelson in the first half.

• In boys cross country, Williamsport defeated Central Columbia (19-40), Hughesville (23-34) and Shamokin (16-46) in a meet. Henry Lyon won for the Millionaires in 17:26.80 to help Williamsport finish the season 17-3 and earn HAC-I league championship honors.

• In girls cross country, Williamsport beat Central Columbia (15-50), Shamokin (17-46) and Hughesville (15-50) to finish the regular season 16-3 and earn HAC-I league championship honors. Lydia Smith won in 20:44.90 and Katie Brue finished second in 20:53.90.

• In girls tennis at the District 4 team tournament, Montgomery advanced to the semifinals with a 3-0 win against Wellsboro. Loyalsock beat Jersey Shore (3-2), but lost to Central Columbia (3-2).

Brooke Bartlow won at No. 2 singles for the Red Raiders, 6-1, 6-2 over Georgia Macensky.

The team tennis semifinals are set for today. Montgomery will play Central Columbia at 1 p.m. at South Williamsport and South Williamsport will play Hughesville at 1 p.m. at Williamsport. The finals will be played at Williamsport at 3 p.m. today.

• The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team fell to Kutztown, 3-1. Lock Haven got on the score sheet first, courtesy of Marley Sprenkel.

Cay McNichol gave Mansfield a two-goal lead, but visiting Shippensburg rallied with three goals including the game-winner in overtime, 3-2.

• The Lock Haven men’s soccer team defeated Shepherd, 4-3. Andrea DiSomma got the ball rolling for the Bald Eagles as his two first half goals came within two minutes of each other.
