Carla R. Bower

Carla R. Bower, 61, of Muncy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, after a courageous two year battle with breast cancer.

Born on July 20, 1955, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Carl A. Waltz and Ruth B. (Miller) Shipman, who survives. On April 21, 1979, she married Roger D. Bower, who survives.  Together they celebrated  37 years of marriage.

Carla was a 1973 graduate of  Williamsport High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) where she received her degree in accounting. After graduation she began a 39 year career with Rogers Huber and associates where she worked as a CPA. She also was an Enrolled Agent for the I.R.S.

Carla was a life member of Buchanan Baptist Church, attending regularly. She was a member of Pa Grange and the Bottle Run Grange No. 1301. She loved bowling and was a member of the Faxon Wednesday Night Ladies League. Carla enjoyed gardening and playing cards, however, her most treasured enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy J. and Darlene Bower, of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Bryan M. and Tracy Bower, of Williamsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Llyod and Pamela Waltz, of Linden; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Cecilia A Waltz, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Lynnea L. and Charles Bailey, of Windber; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, Carla was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Shipman, and a granddaughter, Vannessa Bower.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with her pastor, Robert Regan, officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

The family welcomes flowers, however, if desired, contributions may be made to the Buchanan Baptist Church, 3240 Grimesville Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
