Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League Inc. to hold meeting
The Williamsport Detachment No. 388 Marine Corps League, Inc. will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at detachment headquarters, 507 Cemetery St. The meeting is open to active duty or honorable discharged Marines, FMF Navy Corpsman and Navy Chaplains.
A hot dog and soda sale also will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Gander Outdoors, 66 Mall Parkway, Muncy.
Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild to hold meeting
WELLSBORO — The Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Gmeiner Arts & Cultural Center, 134 Main St. A “Show and Share” portion will follow a brief business meeting. Cathy Wiggs will be the speaker.
The 2018 Quilt Exhibit opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Gmeiner Arts & Cultural Center, where the exhibit will be presented Aug. 10 through Sept. 23, 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Small wall hangings will provide additional information in local merchant windows in Wellsboro and other nearby communities. The small quilts can be purchased during the last two weeks of the exhibit with the profits going to Seeds of Hope Partners. There will be a Quilt Market, also at Gmeiner, from Sept. 1-3, where quilted items such as small quilts, place mats, table runners and other quilt-related items will be available.
Tickets for the raffle quilt will be available from guild members and the Hershey Quilt Odyssey on July 21-22, and at the Tioga County Fair in August.

There will be a one-day “Christmas in July” mini retreat on July 28 at the Masonic Lodge on Kelsey Street in Wellsboro. Stone Soup Quilts and kits still are available. Any Tioga County resident can enter quilts in the Tioga County Fair. A Toothbrush Rug workshop will be offered at the Gmeiner on August 24, 2018.

Montgomery Area Historical Society to hold Third Thursday program
MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Area Historical Society will hold its Third Thursday program at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Adam Room, 3 W. Houston Ave.
Bill Poulton from the Muncy Historical Society will present “The Last Raft,” which will take attendees on a journey from timber to lumber, and from lumber to market.
American Legion Post 251 to host Bags & Beers cornhole tournament
MONTGOMERY — The American Legion Post 251 will host Bags & Beers cornhole tournament at noon Saturday at Post headquarters, 185 Broad St.
There will be an entry fee.
The fee will include a meal of burgers, hot dogs and sides.
Drinks will be available.
Benefit for Brandon Miller Breakfast and Chinese Auction to be held
MONTGOMERY — A benefit for Brandon Miller, recently diagnosed with rare bone marrow disease, will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 5 at Oak Grove Community Center, 2312 Elimsport Road. The benefit will include breakfast and a Chinese auction.
Breakfast will be served until noon.
An auction drawing will begin at 1 p.m.
