Local roundup: Wellsboro cruises past Montgomery in football
It didn’t take Wellsboro long to get on the board, scoring a touchdown less than 3 minutes into the game and the Green Hornets’ offense never slowed down.
Wellsboro cruised the entire game in a 42-6 rout over Montgomery in a regular-season game Friday night.
The Green Hornets jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and took a 35-0 lead into the half after Will Kibler returned a punt 75 yards with 1:44 remaining until halftime.
Conner Adams and Isaac Keane split time at quarterback and both had success. Adams went 3 for 3 for 86 yards and two touchdowns and Keane was 3 for 6 for 66 and a touchdown.
Maurice Walters had a team-high 81 receiving yards for Montgomery. Logan Almeida finished with 144 passing yards.
MILTON 20, WARRIOR RUN 0
Ashton Canelo scored all three of Milton’s touchdowns in a shutout over Warrior Run. Canelo caught a 25- and 1-yard touchdown pass from Wade Young in the second quarter to put the Black Panthers ahead at halftime, 14-0.
He then scored on a 13-yard run late in the fourth quarter. He ended with 65 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards.
The Defenders were held to minus-9 rushing yards.
