Local roundup: Ross Eyer throws 1-hitter as Muncy blanks Millville

Ross Eyer took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and struck out nine as Muncy improved to 2-0 with a 10-0, five-inning win over Millville on Thursday.

Max Rymsza doubled and drove in four runs for the Indians, and Noah Confer drove in three as Muncy broke open the game with seven runs in the first two innings. Eyer allowed just one hit to pick up the win.

• The Lewisburg girls lacrosse team got six goals from Ella Reish as it posted a 17-5 win over Midd-West. Roz Noone added five goals for the Green Dragons, and Theresa Zeh, Tonya Omlor, Talulah Rice, Callie Hoffman, Tori Vonderheid and Olivia Bartlett each added a goal. Keeley Baker recorded five saves in goal for Lewisburg.

• Montoursville defeated Muncy in boys tennis, 5-0. Andrew Stapp won at No. 1 singles for the Warriors, 6-0, 6-1, against Muncy’s Kaleb Meyer.

Jared Matlack won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Tyler Gilbert won at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

The win improves the Warriors to 5-0.

Jersey Shore fell to Mifflinburg, 3-2. Jackson Stemler won for the Bulldogs at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0 against Gabe Creb and Robert Smith earned a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles against Aaron Hackenburg.

• Lycoming’s men’s tennis team fell to Messiah, 9-0. The Warriors had a pair of close matches in singles action with freshman Luke Leach, a Wellsboro grad, and junior Casey Haas, a Montoursville grad, each falling 6-3, 7-5, at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.

Wellsboro grad Nate Redell lost for Lycoming at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

• Lycoming’s women’s tennis team fell to Messiah, 5-4. Milton grad Hannah Seebold and Williamsport grad Mia Shuler posted an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, and Williamsport grad Madi Heller and Montgomery grad Emily Wolfgang won at No. 2 doubles, 8-3.

• Bucknell’s Zach Hartman was voted as the EIWA Wrestler of the Year by the conference’s coaches. Hartman became the first Bison to capture this prestigious award after winning an EIWA title and earning All-America laurels during the 2020-21 campaign.

At the EIWA Championships, Hartman went 3-0 en route to winning the 165-pound crown. Already a two-time EIWA runner-up, he joined Andy Rendos (165, 2010), current assistant coach Kevin LeValley (149, 2011) and Joe Stolfi (285, 2014) as Bucknell’s EIWA champions. He also became the second Bison to earn the EIWA Coaches’ Trophy as the EIWA Championships’ Outstanding Wrestler, joining LeValley.

• In women’s soccer, Bucknell fell to Navy, 1-0, after Chloe Dawson headed in a goal just 1 minute, 52 seconds into the game. Navy is now 2-4 and 2-0 in the Patriot League South. Bucknell is 1-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Patriot League South.

The Bison finished with a 12-9 shot advantage.
