Local roundup: Trevouledes scores twice as Hughesville beats Montgomery

ick Trevouledes scored twice and added an assist as Hughesville defeated Montgomery in boys soccer, 3-1, on Monday. Josh Heiney also scored for the Spartans.Montgomery’s Owen Sherman with 14:25 remaining in the game.

• Devon Walker recorded a hat trick and Aliyah Neece added an assist, but Jersey Shore fell to Shamokin in girls soccer. Grace Welshans had 18 saves for the Bulldogs.

Piper Minier recorded a hat trick and added an assist in South Williamsport’s 7-0 rout over Sullivan County. The Mounties held the Griffins to just one shot on goal as Laila Shams recorded the shutout.

Makenzi Leitenberger had a goal and assist and Sophia Clark scored twice in Hughesville’s 6-0 win against Wellsboro.

Madalyn Morgan put North Penn-Mansfield ahead in the first half on a penalty kick, but Williamson scored two unanswered goals to earn the 2-1 win. Ella Churchill and Ruby Sherman both scored. Jade Colwell added an assist.

• Hughesville continued building on its strong season, blanking Lewisburg, 5-0 without dropping a set in any match. Kylie Kilgore, Gina Budman and Destiny Flowers won singles matches with Brianna Boback and Daylan Randall and Monika Bruder and Sarah Buck taking the doubles matches.

Loyalsock defeated Montgomery, 3-2. Anna Hall won 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1 singles over Sam Ulrich and Mia Blas won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Montgomery’s Jenna Waring won at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

Central Mountain fell to Hollidaysburg, 5-0. Bree Weaver lost at No. 3 singles for the Wildcats, 6-1, 6-4.

Jersey Shore beat Williamsport, 4-1, to improve to 6-1. Peyton Dincher beat Ally McCann at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Williamsport’s win came at No. 1 doubles where Emma Campbell and Chloe Campbell won, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

• Loyalsock lost to Galeton in girls volleyball, 3-0 (25-8, 25-7, 25-4). Alli Macensky led Galeton wtih 10 kills.

• Northeast Bradford defeated Wellsboro in cross country in both girls (21-35) and boys (15-48) competition.

• Cam Francis shot a course-best 42 Monday at the Indian Hills Country Club, helping Montoursville defeat Shamokin, 202-224, in high school golf. Francis is having an excellent season and bested the second-place finisher by seven strokes. Aiden Evans also played well and shot a 49. Connor Imbro matched Shamokin’s top finisher with a 55 as Montoursville improved to 4-3.

• Muncy defeated East Juniata in girls field hockey in a close game, 1-0. Ariana Copeland scored the Indians’ only goal early in the fourth quarter.

• Montoursville graduate Rei Saar lost over the weekend in the MAC Individual Championships at Kirby Park. The Lycoming freshman lost her semifinal match to top-seeded Isabella Dona of Stevens in the fifth flight of singles play.

• With his foot central to a pair of wins for the Lycoming College men’s soccer team, sophomore Dylan Sloan earned the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week award.

Sloan assisted the game-winning goal in the Battle for the Boot, a 2-0 win over rival Susquehanna and he followed that by scoring the game-winner with 11 seconds left in Lycoming’s 1-0 win over Ithaca on Sunday afternoon.

• Penn College sophomore Teagan Willey was named United East Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of Week. Willey had a tremendous outing this week, helping the Wildcats secure a pair of shutout victories.

• In women’s volleyball, Penn College defeated Keystone College, 3-1 (25-18, 29-27, 25-18, 29-27). Hannah Burnett led the Wildcats with 13 kills, 10 aces and 22 digs.
